hogan1Hulk Hogan (a/k/a Terry Bollea) filed a new lawsuit against Gawker Media in which he alleges that they leaked the sealed transcript of his racist tirade from one of his sex tapes. Hogan claims in the lawsuit that his “income was cut off, his legacy in entertainment was severely damaged (if not completely destroyed), and his global brand was forever tarnished.”

Gawker issued a statement in response. “This is getting ridiculous. Hulk Hogan is a litigious celebrity abusing the court system to control his public image and media coverage. As we’ve said before and are happy to say again: Gawker did not leak the information. It’s time for Hulk Hogan to take responsibility for his own words, because the only person who got Hulk Hogan fired from the WWE is Hulk Hogan.” Rad more at the NYPost.com.

Powell’s POV: Hogan’s latest lawsuit does not specify financial damages he is hoping to recover. The timeline is interesting, as the Post notes that Gawker CEO Nick Denton wrote a blog predicting that Hogan’s “real secret” would come out soon just as the National Enquirer posted the transcript. A.J. Daulerio, who was Gawker’s editor at the time, tweeted “XOXOXO” and linked to the Enquirer story. Nevertheless, Hogan’s attorneys will have to prove that Gawker leaked the sealed transcripts, which could be difficult.
