Mike Bailey on why his marriage with Veda Scott works despite having different schedules: “I think the reason Veda is so good at commentary is because, just like myself, we are both, and always have been, obsessed with professional wrestling. You hear of some people who are like, ‘Oh, uh, this is very common in, uh, couples in professional wrestling,’ right? But we keep our work and our personal life separate. We don’t talk about pro wrestling at home. And we are the complete opposite. We love it. We love to talk about it. We love to dissect it.
“So often we are gonna be doing separate shows. I’ll be doing a Dynamite, and Veda will be doing a CMLL show, and then as soon as the show is done, we’ll get on the phone, and we will break down our shows match by match, moment by moment, and dissect every little piece of it, because we absolutely love pro wrestling. And I don’t know how our relationship would work if we didn’t share the thing that we are both the most passionate about. So I mean, I’m so grateful for Veda.”
Bailey on having a spot in the Clockwork Carnage match at AEW WrestleDream: “Yeah, I mean, if you look at the total, like the full landscape of it all, right? I am being put in these opportunities for a reason. And I mean, All Elite Wrestling is where the best wrestle, and that’s a tagline, but it’s true. There is a roster full of absolute killers. There are so many wrestlers in AEW who would be right at home winning the AEW World Championship and defending that on pay-per-view.
“And I mean, I think if you look at my record, right, I have not been able to win a singles title in AEW, but I am a two-time Trios Champion, and none of those losses have been easy. I have given every champion that I have faced some of their biggest challenges. Again, as you mentioned, I took Jon Moxley very, very close to that 20-minute time limit, which is no easy feat…
“And I think that at WrestleDream I will get the chance to win the AEW World Championship, and that is exactly where I want to be. That is exactly where I should be. And if, God forbid, I don’t win the championship at WrestleDream, I will keep trying. And I think that my joining United Empire was a big part of that plan.”
