Paramount officially acquires Warner Bros. Discovery, becomes Skydance

By Jason Powell, ProWrestling.net Editor (@prowrestlingnet)

The Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery merger was made official on Tuesday. The company will now be known as Skydance and will start trading today on the New York Stock Exchange. Read more on the merger at Deadline.com.

Powell’s POV: Cuts are looming, with Skydance reportedly starting with roughly $80 billion in debt. On the pro wrestling side, the big question is whether Skydance wants to keep AEW programming. The current AEW media rights deal runs through 2027 with a Skydance option for 2028. Tony Khan has spoken about having a friendship with Skydance CEO David Ellison through the NFL. Ellison is also friends with TKO Executive Chairman Ari Emanuel, and Paramount is the home of UFC and Zuffa Boxing.
