Ric Flair told TMZ that he intends to file a trademark in attempt to force WWE to pay royalties over Becky Lynch using “The Man” persona. Flair said he loves Lynch, but feels the company owes him based on his use of the “To be the man” slogan. Flair said a WWE attorney balked when Flair raised the issue, and Flair’s own attorney was blown off by a WWE attorney in 2018 or early 2019. Watch the full interview below or at TMZ.com.

Powell’s POV: For what it’s worth, when Lynch first used the name I found it to be clever in part because that she was feuding with Flair’s daughter Charlotte. So whether or not Lynch had Flair in mind when she created the persona, the name definitely made me think of Flair.

  1. Same here. That was the whole point to rile up Charlotte.

  2. The only positive Ric ever brought to the world was his wrestling persona and performance in his prime. Now he’s just a pathetic old man who never grew up.
