Hunter announced Ricochet vs. Adam Cole vs. Aleister Black vs. Velveteen Dream vs. Matt Riddle in a five-way match, and the winner will face Gargano in a best of three falls match for the vacant NXT Championship at NXT Takeover: New York.

2. Adam Cole defeated Ricochet, Aleister Black, Velveteen Dream, and Matt Riddle in a five-way to earn the right to face Gargano for the NXT Championship at NXT Takeover: New York. Cole pinned Ricochet to win the match. The Forgotten sons attacked Ricochet and Black afterward.

3. Punishment Martinez defeated Riddick Moss.

There was an in-ring verbal segment involving Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole to set up their Takeover match.

9. Vanessa Borne and Aliyah fought Lacey Lane and Kacy Catanzaro to an apparent no-contest. Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir showed up. Borne and Aliyah left, and the heels beat up Lane and Catanzaro.

10. Matt Riddle over Kona Reeves. Velveteen Dream was brought onto the stage by two women on a couch and told Riddle he will face him at Takeover.

11. Aleister Black and Ricochet defeated The Forgotten Sons to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The War Raiders came out afterward and will defend the NXT Tag Titles against Black and Ricochet at Takeover. Ricochet noted that this could be the final Full Sail taping for him and Black and they made potential farewell statements to close the taping.
