WWE tag team tournament announced

By Jason Powell, Prowrestling.net Editor (@prowrestlingnet)

WWE has announced that a tournament will be held to determine the No. 1 contenders to the Smackdown Tag Titles. The four-team tournament will play out over the next three weeks on Smackdown television with the winning team challenging the Bludgeon Brothers at SummerSlam.

Powell’s POV: WWE has yet to announce the four teams who will be in the tournament. Even so, it’s a good approach to take because no Smackdown team other than Bludgeon Brothers has any real momentum these days, so this is a chance to build up one of the teams as credible challengers heading into SummerSlam.

The new edition of the Pro Wrestling Boom Podcast with Jason Powell features guest Eli Drake talking about signing with the NWA, his departure from Impact Wrestling, rejecting an intergender match with Tessa Blanchard, his WWE developmental run, and much more...

  1. According to other sites it will be New day, Usos, Sanity, and The Bar. Poor Good Brothers are the odd team out. I figure New day and Sanity will have their own match at SS and the Usos had their opportunities already so The Bar are the odds on favorites. Good that they are getting a push again and I feel they have the physicality to match up with the Bludgeons. Should be a good hard hitting match.
