WWE is reporting that Zack Ryder suffered a left knee injury during the tag team battle royal on Tuesday’s Smackdown Live television show. “We think he injured his kneecap or his patella,” WWE doctor Chris Robinson told WWE.com. “We think it popped out and then popped back in, so we’re just going to do an MRI to make sure that there is not cartilage damage or some tendon tearing, stuff like that. Hopefully there’s not and it’ll be a shorter rehab period. If there is, there’s a different road we might have to go down that may take longer to get him to recover.”

Powell’s POV: The story states that Ryder suffered the injury while attempting his Rough Ryder finisher. The story also notes that they will provide an update on his MRI on Thursday. By the way, Ryder and Mojo Rawley were scheduled to work a six-man tag match on the Tribute to the Troops special that was taped after Smackdown, but they were replaced by American Alpha.
