The following matches are advertised for the WWE Backlash pay-per-view, which will be held on September 11 in Richmond, Virginia at the Richmond Coliseum.
-Dean Ambrose vs. AJ Styles for the WWE Championship.
-Nikki Bella vs. Becky Lynch vs. Naomi vs. Natalya vs. Carmella vs. Alexa Bliss in a Six-Pack Challenge for the Smackdown Women’s Championship.
-The finals of the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship Tournament.
Powell’s POV: The Usos and American Alpha both advanced to the semifinals of the tournament. We also know that Heath Slater and Rhyno are in the tournament. The Vaudevillains and The Hype Bros also seem like logical entrants, and it remains to be seen what the final team will be. Other potential pay-per-view matches include Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt, Baron Corbin vs. Kalisto, and perhaps The Miz vs. Apollo Crews in a rematch for the Intercontinental Championship. Alberto Del Rio and Eva Marie are not eligible to work the show due to their 30-day suspensions for violating the Wellness Policy.
