-WWE Smackdown features WWE Champion Dean Ambrose vs. Intercontinental Champion The Miz in a non-title match. Join Jake Barnett for live coverage as the show airs tonight on USA Network at 7:00 p.m. CT.

-It’s another long travel day for the WWE crew. After ten hours in the air to get from Florida to Hawaii, the crew will fly to Tokyo for live events in Japan.

-NXT is in Winter Haven, Florida at Winter Haven Armory tonight with a live event. WWE has apparently stopped listing specific NXT talent for shows on their live events page. The crew will not be running any additional shows this weekend, presumably due to it being a holiday weekend in the United States.

Birthdays and Notables

-The legendary Terry Funk is 72.

-Cody Rhodes is 31 today. His WWE non-compete expires August 19.

-Alicia Fox (a/k/a Victoria Crawford) is 30.

-Man Mountain Dean (a/k/a Frank Simmons Leavitt) was born on June 30, 1891. He died on May 29, 1953 of a heart attack at age 61.

-Ed “Strangler” Lewis (a/k/a Robert Freidrich) was born on June 30, 1891. He died on August 8, 1966 at age 75.
