Wade Barrett has been released by WWE, according to WWE.com.
Powell’s POV: Barrett’s deal was coming up this summer, so the timing of the release is interesting. There was a time when it seemed like WWE was letting contracts run out rather than cutting talent, so it’s a little surprising that they didn’t just allow his deal to expire since it’s coming up so soon. I have been very high on Barrett since his initial run with The Nexus, and I believe he can do very well elsewhere if he’s given a real opportunity.
