-The WWE Smackdown television taping for Thursday’s television show will be held tonight in Tampa, Florida at Amalie Arena. The advertised segment is The Highlight Reel with Chris Jericho interviewing Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose. Yep, we’re already back to WWE advertising nothing more than talk show segments for Smackdown.

-TNA Impact airs on Pop TV tonight at 8:00 p.m. CT. The featured match is the Feast or Fired match that awards three title shots and one pink slip that results in a wrestler being fired. Join me for live coverage of Impact as the show airs on Pop TV tonight. John Moore will be by on Tuesday with the TNA Impact Wrestling Hit List. Pop TV can be found on DirecTV channel 273, and on Dish Network’s channel 117. Check the Pop TV website if you are trying to find the show on another platform.

-There is not a dark match advertised for tonight’s Smackdown taping. The recent dark main event has been Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose vs. Sheamus and Kevin Owens.

-The WWE segment on ESPNews is scheduled to air during the 8:00 p.m. CT hour. Former WWE broadcast team member Jonathan Coachman hosts SportsCenter and runs through several “moments of the week” clips from Raw before conducting an interview with a WWE wrestler. This week’s advertised guest is Chris Jericho.

-Total Divas airs tonight on E! at 8:00 p.m. CT. The listing for the show says Natalya’s worst fear comes true when she is left out of SummerSlam, Alicia Fox feels disrespected by her best friend Paige, and John Cena surprises Nikki Bella with news that he is finally open to marriage. If you missed last week’s season premiere, it is being replayed in the hour leading up to the new episode.

Birthdays and Notables

-Sasha Banks is 24 today.

-Legendary play-by-play voice Gordon Solie was born on January 26, 1929. He died of an aneurysm on July 27, 2000.

-Road Warrior Animal (Joe Laurinaitis) is 56 today. He is the brother of John Laurinaitis, and his son James plays for the St. Louis, er, Los Angeles Rams.

-Volador Jr. (a/k/a Ramón Ibarra Rivera) is 35.

-Former TNA Knockout Shantelle Malawski is 30 today.

-Olympic wrestler David Schultz was killed on January 26, 1996. He was shot to death by John du Point at Foxcatcher Farm, where Kurt Angle also trained. The tragic story was the subject of the excellent Foxcatcher film and ESPN also released a documentary last year called The Prince of Pennsylvania that can be found on Netflix.
