Former WWE wrestler Rene Goguen, who wrestled as Rene Dupree, filed a lawsuit against WWE over not being paid royalties for footage that airs on WWE Network. Variety.com reports that attorneys Clinton Krislov and Brenden Leydon are representing Goguen and Dupree and others while claiming breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, unjust enrichment and a violation of the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act. Powell’s POV: WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt told the Hollywood Reporter that Goguen signed a contract in 2011 that prevents him from making such claims. McDevitt also stated that he communicated that information to Goguen’s attorney, whose response “indicates he did not know about it,” according to McDevitt. It was only a matter of time before someone made this claim, and I assume McDevitt is prepared for it.
