Stephanie McMahon spoke with Sky News and addressed the company’s decision to run Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. “Moving forward with Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia was an incredibly tough decision, given that heinous act,” McMahon said. “But, at the end of the day, it is a business decision and, like a lot of other American companies, we decided that we’re going to move forward with the event and deliver Crown Jewel for all of our fans in Saudi Arabia and around the world.” Read the full story at Sky.com.

Powell’s POV: Stephanie labeling this as a business decision is the most accurate part of her explanation. In my mind, it’s all about business, the big business that is WWE’s lucrative ten-year deal with the Saudi government. The additional talk of doing this for the fans sounds nice and plays to fans who merely want their entertainment, but it’s hard to view this as anything more than a cash grab.
