Bobby Heenan (Raymond Louis Heenan) died on Sunday at age 72. The cause of death has not been disclosed. Heenan announced in 2002 that he was battling throat cancer.
Powell’s POV: I grew up on Heenan and will remember him as my favorite manager of all time. I first saw him in the AWA around 1980 and his heel promos as the manager of Nick Bockwinkel and other members of “The Heenan Family” were major factors in my becoming a fan. His work as a color commentator with Gorilla Monsoon was also the primary reason why I sat through countless squash matches on the WWF’s syndicated television. “The Brain” was a one in a billion talent and my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
The news of Bobby “The Brain” Heenan’s passing today gutted me.
I loved our time together.
No one ever did it better than the Wease.

Bobby Heenan just passed away a few hours ago. He was the best ever at what he did.
