[Hour One] Pyro shot off on the stage while Excalibur opened the show on commentary with Taz and Tony Schiavone. Excalibur hyped the men’s and women’s Blood & Guts matches while the cage lowered around the two rings…
Backstage, Renee Paquette interviewed Don Callis, Kyle Fletcher, Kevin Knight, Kazuchika Okada, Wardlow, Mark Davis, and Jake Doyle. Callis and Fletcher did the bulk of the talking…
Mick Foley interviewed Will Ospreay, Adam Copeland, Darby Allin, Steven Borden, Matt Jackson, and Nick Jackson on the interview set. Ospreay and the Bucks spoke, and then Foley asked Darby about competing in the match after running the New York City Marathon over the weekend. Darby said no amount of training prepares you for Blood & Guts matches, and you just have to accept whatever happens. Borden spoke about taking out the Callis Family, and then Copeland closed out the promo…
Dean Malenko narrated a Blood & Guts video package…
Ring announcer Justin Roberts stood at ringside and announced that the women’s Blood & Guts match was coming up. He read through the rules of the match while a graphic was shown on the screen. Megan Bayne made her entrance and brought a chair into the cage with her. Kris Statlander was out next, and she brought a trash can filled with weapons into the cage…
1. Megan Bayne, Lena Kross, Thekla, Julia Hart, Skye Blue, and Persephone vs. Willow Nightingale, Jamie Hayter, Alex Windsor, Harley Cameron, Kris Statlander, and Queen Aminata in a Blood & Guts match. Bayne and Statlander started the match. An AEW chant broke out before the opening bell. Excalibur said the third entrant would come out exactly three minutes into the match, but the other entrances would be less predictable. Statlander ran Bayne into a chair that was wedged in a corner of one of the rings.
Persephone was the second entrant for the heel team. Persephone entered the cage with a briefcase and hit Statlander with it. Taz said he had a feeling it wasn’t just a basic briefcase (huh?). Bayne stood up for the first time since she was run into the chair and was bleeding heavily from the forehead. Bayne let out a primal scream and hit Statlander with a chair before the show went to a picture-in-picture commercial break. [C]
Queen Aminata was the second entrant for the babyface team. She arrived moments after Persephone tried to stick a pair of pliers inside the mouth of Statlander. Aminata brought her title belt inside the cage, and it was wrapped in barbed wire. Statlander recovered and hit Bayne with a kendo stick.
Skye Blue was the third entrant for the heel team. Statlander left the cage and ran up the ramp before she tried to hit Blue with a kendo stick. Blue avoided the kendo stick and then slammed a light tube over Statlander’s head. Blue tried to enter the cage, but Aminata swung the cage door at her. Blue and Statlander got in the ring and were both bleeding from the forehead. Blue put Statlander down with Code Blue.
Willow Nightingale was the third entrant for the babyface team. Willow wore a backpack and brought a trash can lid inside the cage. Willow struck Blue with the backpack. Willow tried to slingshot Blue into the cage, but Blue stuffed it and then slammed Willow’s head into the cage before a PIP break. [C]
