Bruce Prichard reportedly planning to retire from WWE in 2027

One of WWE’s top executives is planning to retire from working full-time. Bruce Prichard is expected to give up his position as Executive Director of Creative Writing & Talent after next year’s WrestleMania 43 season. Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com broke the news and added that Prichard plans to continue working for WWE as a consultant.

Prichard got his start in pro wrestling in Paul Boesch’s Houston promotion. He joined WWE/WWF in 1987 and debuted the Brother Love character the following year. Prichard left the company in 1991, but he returned a year later and was a member of Vince McMahon’s inner circle until he was fired in 2008. Prichard worked for TNA and MLW before returning to WWE in 2018, and has been with the company ever since.

Powell’s POV: Prichard has been one of the most powerful players in WWE over the years. I remember several people in WWE predicting that Prichard would be among the first people fired if Stephanie McMahon and Paul Levesque ever took control of the company. Obviously, that never happened, as Prichard maintained a high-ranking position after Vince McMahon sold the company. It will be interesting to see who takes over Prichard’s job when the time comes. For that matter, it will be interesting to see if Prichard will be more involved in the Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard podcast once he retires. Thanks to Kylin from McDonough, Georgia, for passing along the story.
