Pro Wrestling Junkie “Gamble It All 2”
Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, at The Mecca

This is the second consecutive night of shows in this venue, located straight west of New York City, across the Hudson River. Only a handful of wrestlers (Marcus Mathers, Dustin Waller, Juni Underwood) competed on both shows. The room was packed with 250 or so fans; that’s pretty impressive for day two of a double-header in that room. Jack Solomon and The Struggles again provided commentary.
* They placed the hard camera on the stage (the exact opposite side where it was a day ago for the Expect The Unexpected show! To me, it makes far more sense to have the camera on the stage and show the fans seated across the ring.
1. Juni Underwood and Journey Burke vs. Daron Richardson and Diamond Virago in a “Couples Tag Team match.” Daron held two belts, and Diamond has one. They attacked, and we’re underway! The women fought in the ring while the men brawled on the floor. Burke flipped Diamond into the turnbuckles, then she hit a suplex and a swinging neckbreaker. Daron got in, but Burke hit some chops and forearm strikes. Juni slammed Virago onto Daron. The heels began working over Burke, and Daron repeatedly stomped on her!
Diamond hit a snap suplex for a nearfall at 4:00, and she choked Burke in the ropes. Daron pulled Juni off the apron to the floor so he couldn’t tag in. Diamond hit a clothesline on Journey. Journey hit a German Suplex at 6:00. Daron jumped in, but Journey hit an enzuigiri on him. Juni finally got a hot tag, and he brawled with Daron. He put Diamond on Daron’s shoulders, then slammed her face-first to the mat. Diamond slapped Juni across the face! Juni put his hair up and let her do it a few more times!
Juni hit a package piledriver on her, but Daron immediately hit a running Shooting Star Press on Juni for a nearfall, then a mid-ring Sliced Bread for a nearfall! Diamond hit a Lungblower to Juni’s back, and Daron hit a bulldog. Diamond got a nearfall, and suddenly everyone was down at 9:00. Daron rolled to the floor and got a chair, but the ref confiscated it. Journey and Juni hit a team neckbreaker. Daron accidentally hit a running Shooting Star Press on Virago! Juni hit a neckbreaker over his knee on Daron, while Journey also slammed Diamond.
Journey hit a standing neckbreaker as Juni also hit a double stomp on Virago for a nearfall, but Daron pulled the ref to the floor! Juni splashed to the floor on Daron, but he also hit the ref! In the ring, Journey hit a Flatliner on Diamond for a visual pin, but we had no ref! Diamond hit Journey with a chair, then she hit a spear for the pin. Daron was holding onto Juni, so he couldn’t jump into the ring to make the save. Fun action.
Daron Richardson and Diamond Virago defeated Juni Underwood and Journey Burke at 12:21.
2. The Casino Rumble. No idea who will be in this. A chubby white guy named “TKO,” wearing a blue singlet and carrying a phone on a selfie stick, drew No. 1. The masked Elijah Eden was No. 2. (No on-screen graphics? I don’t know these two guys! This is when graphics are needed!) The flamboyant Julezee drew No. 3 at 2:30, and he got a nice pop, and he tossed TKO. Tarzan Duran drew No. 4, and he immediately eliminated Eden. (What a strange way to start a Rumble with two relative unknowns who were quickly tossed.) Julezee and Tarzan hit stereo spin kicks and were both down.
Brandon Downey was No. 5 (okay, he got a graphic.) I’ve seen him a few times at New Jersey’s WrestlePro. He hit an impressive Falcon Arrow. Devious Cass was No. 6, and he hit a flying kick on Duran. Mateo Marcelos, who looks like a zombie, drew No. 7 at 9:00. I’ve seen him at least once before, too. Mateo and Downey traded slaps, and Mateo hit some gutbusters over his knee. Himi Hendrix was No. 8; I don’t think I’ve seen him. (Since those first few entrants, everyone now has an on-screen graphic.) Hendrix tossed Downey at 11:00.
Rachel Ley was No. 9 (and our first female entrant). She hit a second-rope crossbody block on two guys, then a huracanrana. Alex Reynolds was No. 10, and he hit a dropkick on Julezee at 14:00. Kenzie Tyler was No. 11; I don’t know her — she is white with long blonde hair. She hit a huracanrana. Solomon said Reynolds has clearly been wrestling longer than Kenzie’s been alive. Kenzie kicked Rachel in the stomach and hit a DDT on her. Preston Vance was No. 12, and the crowd chanted, “Ten!” Solomon said, “This is the largest man I’ve seen in a while.” Vance tossed Tarzan Duran.
Kenzie hit several chops on Preston that he no-sold. Preston scooped Kenzie up and tossed her to the floor on guys on the floor. The massive Oxx Adams was No. 13 at 17:30, and Solomon said that THIS is the largest man he’s seen in a while! Rachel tried a top-rope crossbody block, but Oxx hit a World’s Strongest slam on Rachel, then tossed her. Oxx tossed Julezee. Boos for that! Everyone remaining in the ring stomped on the seven-footer Oxx. Preston and Alex worked together to toss Hendrix at 19:30. We have FIVE in the ring.
Mateo and Reynolds fought in a corner. Mateo knocked Reynolds to the floor! Vance hit a spear on Mateo, then he tossed Mateo. Oxx knocked Vance off the apron to the floor, so it’s down to Oxx vs. Devious Cass! The crowd was immediately behind the teenage star Cass. Cass tried a dropkick, but Oxx just swatted it away. Oxx put Cass on the apron. They both fought on the apron. Cass shoved him into the ring post. Cass got into the ring and superkicked Oxx to the floor to win! A crowd-pleasing Rumble.
Devious Cass won a 13-person (11 men, two women) Rumble at 23:31.
3. Marcus Mathers vs. JTG. Mathers was back in his Phillies blue gear. If you haven’t seen JTG in a while, he’s grown out long dreadlocks and his physique is great. They jawed, then they traded rollups. They both missed dropkicks and had a standoff at 3:00, and we got a loud, “Both these guys!” chant. They shook hands but then traded forearm strikes. Marcus hit a running shoulder block. JTG hit a pop-up neckbreaker! Nice! He hit a Norman Smiley-style swinging bodyslam for a nearfall at 5:00. Mathers hit a back-body drop and a flying forearm, then his step-up mule kick.
Mathers hit a dive through the ropes and barreled onto JTG. They looped ringside and brawled. (This room is packed! They were fighting with almost no room to work). They got back into the ring, and Marcus immediately hit a dropkick for a nearfall at 7:30. They traded punches, both went down, and we got a “This is awesome!” chant. Marcus hit a suplex, and he kept JTG grounded. JTG hit a bulldog move, and they were both down at 10:30. JTG hit a spinning, swinging uranage for a nearfall. Mathers hit his top-rope twisting crossbody block, then the corner fadeaway stunner and the Blue Thunder Bomb for a nearfall at 12:30.
They got up and traded overhand chops. Marcus hit a leaping side kick to the jaw and a superkick, but JTG hit a decapitating clothesline, and they were both down at 14:00. Yes, this indeed has been awesome. JTG set up for a Razor’s Edge, but Mathers turned it into a rollup. Marcus hit his Ospreay-style heel hook kick to the jaw, then a standing powerbomb and his awesome top-rope Shooting Star Press for the pin. Awesome match. “What a weekend Marcus Mathers has put together here,” Solomon said. Marcus and JTG hugged.
Marcus Mathers defeated JTG at 15:33.
4. J. Bouji vs. Shane Rose (w/Rachel Ley) vs. Journey Fatu vs. Vaughn Vertigo vs. Brandon Cutler vs. Angel Ortiz for the PWJ Massacre Title. I’ve only seen Rose twice before (the prior two PWJ shows here); he’s tall and thin, and he held a rose and came out to “Smooth Operator.” He thinks he’s quite the Don Juan! As champion, J Bouji came out last. Bouji rolled to the floor at the bell. Four guys fought on the floor while Cutler and Rose fought in the ring. Brandon hit a dropkick. Fatu hit a running buttbump to Vaughn’s face in the corner at 2:30. Journey hit a piledriver, dropping one guy onto another.
Journey went for a Bonzai Butt Drop, but Ortiz got his knees up to block it. Rose hit a moonsault to the floor on Fatu. Vaughn lined up several guys and raked their backs. The crowd chanted, “Bald!” at Cutler. Brandon hit a top-rope flying punch on Vaughn. He hit a Falcon Arrow on Ortiz. Fatu hit a Samoan Drop on Vaughn. Rose hit a kip-up stunner on Fatu. Ortiz hit a backbreaker over his knee on Bouji. Suddenly, everyone was down at 6:00. Bouji and Cutler got up and traded forearm strikes.
Bouji hit a kick on Cutler. Fatu hit a headbutt on Ortiz, then he superkicked Vaughn. Fatu copied Rikishi, pulling his trunks up tightly, and went to rub his butt in Vaughn’s face, but Bouji made the save. Bouji hit a powerbomb on Ortiz for a nearfall. Vaughn hit a Swanton Bomb. He hit a flip dive to the floor onto several guys! It was suddenly just Bouji and Rose in the ring, and they traded forearm strikes. Bouji hit a Pele Kick at 9:00. Rose rolled him up for the flash pin! New champion. He went to the floor and hugged Ley, and the crowd was going nuts for the title change.
Shane Rose defeated J. Bouji, Journey Fatu, Vaughn Vertigo, Brandon Cutler, and Angel Ortiz to win the PWJ Massacre Title at 9:28.
* The crowd chanted, “You deserve it!” Ortiz and Fatu put Rose on their shoulders, and the crowd gave the kid a big ovation. Solomon noted it wasn’t long ago that the kid was working pre-show matches.
Intermission
5. Izzy Moreno vs. Gypsy Mac for the PWJ Women’s Title. The commentators said this is Mac’s PWJ debut. A clean lockup to open; they appear to be roughly the same height and overall size. Izzy hit a basement dropkick, then a Northern Lights Suplex at 2:00. Cagematch.net records show they’ve met three times now, with Mac 1-0 in singles matches, but Izzy won one of the two three-ways. Mac took control and stomped on Izzy, and the crowd booed her.
Mac rubbed her butt in Izzy’s face in the corner and got a nearfall at 4:30. Mac dropped her weight on Izzy’s chest in the corner, then hit a running Facewash Kick, then a Vader Bomb-style elbow drop for a nearfall. They hit stereo clotheslines and were both down at 6:00. Izzy hit a second-rope crossbody block for a nearfall, then a Michinoku Driver for a nearfall. Mac hit a Meteora to the back, and a German Suplex, then a spear for a nearfall at 7:30. Mac went to the top rope, but Izzy flipped her to the mat.
Izzy went for a running knee; Mac awkwardly moved so the move actually didn’t come close to landing. Mac hit a DDT out of the ropes for a believable nearfall at 9:00, but the ref saw her feet were on the ropes and stopped counting. This time, Moreno hit a hard running knee to the side of the head for the pin. Good action with just that one miscue.
Izzy Moreno defeated Gypsy Mac to retain the PWJ Women’s Title at 9:20.
6. “The Miracle Generation” Dustin Waller and Kylon King vs. Joseph Sawyer and Samuel Shaw. A nice pop for the former Wyatt Family members. M-Gen are babyfaces here. Shaw (back to looking like Dexter Lumis — the long dreadlocks are gone!) opened against Dustin. Shaw just stood there stone-faced, with no reaction, so Dustin grabbed Shaw’s arms to tie up with him. Dustin tried a shoulder tackle, but he just bounced off Shaw. Samuel backed him into a corner and hit a series of punches at 2:00. Sawyer entered and hit a bodyslam on Kylon. Dustin missed a running Shooting Star Press.
All four got in the ring and brawled. Kylon hit a plancha to the floor at 4:00, and they all brawled at ringside. They brawled over to the entrance area. They all finally got back into the ring at 6:30, and the former Wyatts were in charge. Shaw executed a monkey-flip on Dustin, but Waller landed on his feet. Kylon hit a running flip onto Shaw. Kylon hit his slingshot senton for a nearfall at 8:30. M-Gen worked over Shaw and kept him grounded, as Dustin applied a headlock on the mat. Kylon hit a spinebuster at 10:30, and he immediately applied a half-crab.
Sawyer got the hot tag, and he hit a dropkick. He hit a big swinging uranage on Dustin for a nearfall at 12:00. Kylon hit a spin kick to Sawyer’s head. Shaw hit an F5 on Waller. Shaw and Kylon traded forearm strikes at 13:30, and King hit a German Suplex. Sawyer hit a DVD on Kylon. He grabbed Waller and set up for a Sister Abigail, but Dustin escaped. Dustin nailed the Lethal Injection on Sawyer. Kylon hit a frog splash on Sawyer, with Waller getting the nearfall.
Some music played! What’s this about? Devious Cass and J Bouji hit the ring! They are cashing in their title shot at 15:30! Kylon hit a superplex, and Kylon hit a Mamba Splash. However, Cass somehow rolled Kylon over and pinned him! New champions! A commentator said it was “the heist of the century!” Sawyer and Shaw weren’t pinned, but they didn’t win the belts, either. They got a “Please come back!” chant.
Devious Cass and J Bouji defeated “Miracle Generation” Dustin Waller and Kylon King and Samuel Shaw and Joseph Sawyer in a three-way to win the PWJ Tag Team Titles at 15:48.
* Dustin and Kylon began arguing, and Kylon shoved him! Kylon turned and left! Waller got on the mic and was livid! Dustin said Kylon has been his best friend for the past eight years. “But lately, besides PWJ, I’ve been doing things on my own, and so has he. I think it’s time I do things on my own here at PWJ.” Dustin called out Nick Wayne for the next show on November 22!
* Zayda Steel (w/Christopher Daniels) came to the ring. I didn’t expect the Fallen Angel to be joining Steel! He wore a suit like the one he routinely wears in AEW. He cut a promo, putting over the indies and PWJ. Zayda got on the mic and announced that after her hard-hitting match against Thekla a day ago, she’s not cleared to compete! So, Billie Starkz is taking her place.
7. Kay Lee Ray vs. Billie Starkz. Luckily, Starkz was here a day ago, so she was able to fill in. Basic reversals early on, and Starkz hit a dive through the ropes at 2:00, then a second one! Kay Lee hit a dive. In the ring, Billie hit a DDT, but she missed a Swanton Bomb. Kay Lee immediately tied Billie up in a pretzel on the mat. Billie hit a spin kick to the head and a German Suplex for a nearfall at 6:00.
Starkz went to the top rope, but Kay Lee met her there and hit a superplex. Billie hit a neckbreaker over her knee. Billie hit a Swanton Bomb for a believable nearfall. Ray hit a Jaded Faceplant. Billie hit a DDT onto the ring apron at 6:30. Billie hit a Canadian Destroyer on the apron for a nearfall. She hit another one in the ring, then a Dominator faceplant for the pin! I’ll call that an upset!
Billie Starkz defeated Kay Lee Ray at 10:05.
8. Charles Mason vs. KJ Orso vs. Stu Grayson in a three-way for the PWJ Title. Stu had his MLP Interim Canadian Title over his shoulder. Mason came out last, wearing his blood-red robe. (He’s completely ditched wearing suits to the ring, which is probably a good thing.) We got the bell, and Orso tried chops on each opponent, so the other two chopped KJ to the mat. Mason and Stu traded some offense, and Stu snapped off a huracanrana and a dropkick on Charles, then a slingshot senton at 2:00. Mason leapt off the apron and hit a huracanrana on Orso on the floor!
In the ring, Mason raked the back of both opponents. Mason did a Sabre-style neck-snap between his ankles on KJ at 4:30. Mason hit a second-rope missile dropkick on Stu for a nearfall. Stu hit a high back suplex on Mason for a nearfall at 6:30. Stu hit a delayed vertical suplex on Orso for a nearfall. KJ crotched Mason around the ring post at 8:00, which earned an “asshole!” chant. Orso crotched Stu in the ropes! He hit a neckbreaker on Stu for a nearfall. Orso hit a huracanrana on Stu, then a basement dropkick to the back of the head at 9:30.
Stu fired up and hit some chops and a hard clothesline, then a flying back elbow that sent KJ flying! KJ threw him shoulder-first into the ring post. Mason got up and traded forearm strikes with Orso. Mason hit Meteoras into opposite corners on each opponent. Everyone hit some kicks. Stu hit a double Pele Kick, and all three were down at 12:00, and we got a loud “PWJ!” chant. Stu hit a release belly-to-belly suplex on Mason, then one on Orso, then another on Mason, then another on Orso, then another on Mason, then another on Orso!
They were all down at 13:30. Mason pushed Orso into Stu, knocking Grayson off the apron to the floor. Mason locked in a sleeper on the mat, and KJ was frantic! However, Stu hit a top-rope 450 Splash to break it up at 15:00. Stu hit a superplex on Mason, then a running knee to KJ’s jaw! Stu hit his overhead backbreaker over the knee on Orso. However, Mason snuck up behind Stu and locked in the sleeper on the mat. But KJ hit the Character Assassination double stomp to the back of Mason’s head, and he pinned Mason! New champion!
KJ Orso defeated Charles Mason and Stu Grayson in a three-way to win the PWJ Title at 16:37.
Final Thoughts: No surprise, Mathers-JTG stole the show. JTG continues to impress me whenever I see him — it feels so long ago he exited WWE, but he’s pretty talented. The three-way main event takes second place. M-Gen vs. the former Wyatt Family takes third place, even though the cliché of someone cashing in a title shot late into a match is old and tired. The action overall was still strong enough to warrant a top-three spot.
The opening of the Rumble was strange. I can’t recall seeing two relative newcomers open a Rumble. Usually, the match opens with top-tier guys, and it’s not uncommon to see those first two go deep into a match. So it was weird to see it start this way, with both guys quickly dispatched. I see so many young kids come and go and just not break through… so it’s pretty notable how the teenage Devious Cass has broken through and been booked in every promotion in the Northeast. He’s definitely one to watch.
