Streamed on IndependentWrestling.TV
This venue holds perhaps 350 fans. This city is roughly 70-80 minutes straight west of Chicago. Dreamwave held three shows over two days here. The lighting is darker than usual; they have turned the lights down and have a blue tint in the background. Florida Man and Sidney Bakabella joined in on commentary,
1. Christian Rose vs. AMB vs. Rafael Quintero vs. Megan Bayne for the Dreamwave Alternative Title. All four fought at the bell. Rose and Bayne traded shoulder blocks while the other two were on the floor. Rose finally knocked her down, and he was lightly booed. She hit a German Suplex, tossing Rose across the ring. AMB (think NJPW’s Callum Newman but smaller) hit a huracanrana. Rose caught AMB diving through the ropes, and he slammed the kid on the apron at 4:00.
Quintero hit a flying back elbow on Rose. Bayne hit a running Claymore Kick on Quintero, then some shoulder thrusts to his ribs in the corner. (She has the height advantage over him.) She hit a butterfly suplex on Rafael. AMB hit a spin kick on Bayne, then a dropkick. Rose dropped AMB with a discus forearm at 5:30. Bayne hit a flying clothesline. AMB hit an enzuigiri on Megan, and they were suddenly all down. Megan and AMB traded forearm strikes; she has the size advantage over him too, and she dropped him with a pump kick.
Megan hit a Stinger Splash on two guys in the corner, then she hit the fallaway slam-and-Samoan Drop combo on them for a nearfall at 7:30, but Rose made the save. Rose hit a knee strike to her forehead. Bayne hit a second-rope superplex on AMB, but Quintero immediately hit a Lethal Injection on her. AMB hit a Lethal Injection on Quintero. Rose caught AMB and hit a Styles Clash for the pin. That was a sprint and a really good way to open the show.
Christian Rose defeated AMB, Rafael Quintero and Megan Bayne to retain the Dreamwave Alternative Title at 9:13.
* “The Curse” came the ring and confronted Christian Rose. Connor Hopkins told Rose that he doesn’t have to “concern himself with my business anymore.” Rose left. Hopkins continued to boast on the mic, vowing he’s about to win the tag titles.
2. “The Hype” Hunter Holdcraft and 12-Gauge Noonan vs. “The Curse” Connor Hopkins and Stephen Wolf (w/Damian Deschain) for the Dreamwave Tag Team Titles. Hunter and Wolf tied up on the mat to open; they are roughly the same size. The shorter 12-Gauge entered and hit a huracanrana on Wolf, then a sliding clothesline for a nearfall at 1:30. Hopkins jumped in and stomped on 12-Gauge, and he was booed. Wolf hit a snap suplex for a nearfall at 3:00, and the heels kept 12-Gauge in their corner.
Hopkins hit a splash in the corner. Wolf hit a mid-ring Spanish Fly for a nearfall at 4:30. 12-Gauge hit a crossbody block on Hopkins, and they were both down. Deschain pulled Hunter off the apron so he wasn’t there to tag in. 12-Gauge accidentally superkicked the ref! Hopkins immediately hit a low-blow punt kick on 12-Gauge at 6:30. Hunter got in the ring with a chair… and he intentionally clocked 12-Gauge over the head with it! The crowd was shocked! Hunter is joining the Curse! Hopkins made a lazy cover on the knocked-out 12-Gauge for the pin. New champions! I did NOT see that coming.
Stephen Wolf and Connor Hopkins defeated 12-Gauge Noonan and Hunter Holdcraft to win the Dreamwave Tag Team Titles at 7:51.
* Holdcraft struck 12-Gauge several more times after the bell, and he jabbed the chair into 12-Gauge’s ribs. Hartenbower ran to the ring to make the save, and the heels scampered off. There is an open bounty on Hartenbower (think a taller Josh Alexander). Who is going to try and collect? Hartenbower said someone “tried to jump me at the gym.”
3. Hartenbower vs. a mystery opponent. Four scrawny guys I’d never seen before came to the ring. Hartenbower battled all of them. One guy hit a chairshot to the back, but Hartenbower absorbed it and beat these kids up. He powerbombed one kid on a garbage can. A commentator said the bounty is $50,000! He speared a chubby kid in a black singlet.
We had some music, and a thin guy named Matt Cage came to the ring. He looks like the 2026 version of Jay Lethal. Cage hit him from behind with a chair. The ref got in the ring, and I started the stopwatch. The ref finally called for the bell at 00:29. Hartenbower is a big and thick man; he easily scooped up Cage and slammed him face-first. He hit a spear for a nearfall. He hit a powerbomb for the pin. An underwhelming segment.
Hartenbower defeated Matt Cage at 2:09/official time of 1:40.
* Christian Rose replaced Florida Man on color commentary.
4. Harley Hudson vs. Rachel Ley vs. Shazza McKenzie. They all went for a pin in the opening seconds. All three appear to be between 5’3″ and 5’6″. Ley hit a dropkick that sent Shazza to the floor. Ley hit a somersault off the apron onto both opponents on the floor at 1:30. In the ring, Rachel hit some armdrags. She hit a double handspring elbow into the corner on both opponents, then a forward Finlay Roll on Hudson, then an enzuigiri on Shazza. Shazza grabbed Ley’s hair and yanked her to the mat for a nearfall at 3:00.
Shazza hit a fisherman’s suplex on Ley for a nearfall, then an STO uranage, and she applied an Anaconda Vice on the mat! Hudson hit a guillotine leg drop on Ley on the ring apron, dragged her in the ring, and got a nearfall at 5:00. Harley applied a half-crab on Rachel. Shazza grabbed the other leg and also applied a half-crab! Shazza and Hudson slapped each other with their free arm. They let go of Ley and traded forearm strikes.
Ley hit a top-rope double crossbody block at 7:00. She hit a huracanrana that flipped Shazza into Harley. Rachel hit a Lungblower to Shazza’s chest, then an Air Raid Crash on Hudson for a nearfall. Rachel went to the top rope, but Shazza yanked her down. Shazza hit a Facewash kick on Rachel. Hudson hit a running kick in the corner on both women. Hudson hit a fallaway slam on Shazza. Rachel hit a superkick on Hudson at 9:00, and suddenly all three were down.
They all got up and traded strikes. Shazza hit a Saito Suplex on Ley, but Hudson hit a clothesline on Shazza. Ley hit a swinging neckbreaker on Hudson, then a moonsault for a believable nearfall, but Shazza made the save. Shazza hit the Splits Stunner on Rachel, then cranked back on Ley’s head until she tapped out. Really good action. Newcomer Ley is on my “one to watch” list.
Shazza McKenzie defeated Harley Hudson and Rachel Ley at 10:36.
* Shazza got on the mic. She said she’s been a good soldier and taken on all comers over three years, and she feels disrespected! She’s never had a title shot here, and that’s going to change. Good promo. (I rarely hear her speak; that Australian accent is thick!)
5. Channing Thomas (w/Sidney Bakabella) vs. Kody Lane. Channing offered a handshake, but Kody kicked it away! An intense lockup to open, as the commentators talked about how Kody has been livid since losing his Alternative Title last month. They sped it up, and Channing hit a spinning leg lariat to the chin for a nearfall at 2:30. Kody hit a second-rope fallaway slam for a nearfall. On the floor, Kody whipped Channing into the ring post. In the ring, Lane hit a senton for a nearfall at 4:30. Lane hit a Blue Thunder Bomb and another big senton for a nearfall.
Kody tossed Channing to the floor, peeled down his straps, and celebrated. He hit a baseball slide dropkick as Channing tried to get back into the ring. Lane stalked Bakabella, who was using a cane. As Kody re-entered the ring, Sidney tripped him with the cane! It allowed Channing to get a rollup for a nearfall. Channing hit a flying back elbow at 7:30. He hit a sliding German Suplex. Lane nailed a suplex into the turnbuckles for a nearfall, then a third senton for a nearfall at 9:00.
Channing hit a top-rope diving clothesline, then a fisherman’s suplex for a nearfall at 10:30. Kody hit a bodyslam, but he missed a senton. He nailed a buckle bomb and dropped Channing gut-first on the top rope, then hit a senton on the back for a nearfall at 12:00. Channing got some rollups. He got a backslide for a nearfall. Kody went for his Lionsault, but Channing caught him with a dropkick! Channing immediately hit a jumping piledriver for the pin. That was really good stuff.
Channing Thomas defeated Kody Lane at 14:10.
6. Maggie Lee vs. Brittnie Brooks. This match was somehow left off the IWTV match list. Brooks is the heel, and she tried to stall in the ropes, but Maggie attacked and punched her. Maggie hit a mid-ring buttbump. Brooks snapped Maggie’s knee across the top rope, then wrapped it around the ring post. In the ring, Brittnie continued to target the damaged left leg, slamming the knee into the canvas. Brooks hit a bulldog for a nearfall at 4:30. Maggie hit a running neckbreaker, but she was limping.
Lee hit a spin kick, then a Tower of London neckbreaker for a nearfall at 6:30, with Christian Rose making a Nigel McGuinness reference. Brooks went back to working on the leg. Maggie hit a wheelbarrow German Suplex, then a Cradle Shock for a nearfall. Brooks hit an Angle Slam for a nearfall at 8:30. Maggie hit a running knee to the side of the head. While Brittnie distracted the ref, Stephen Wolf snuck into the ring and hit a chop block on Maggie! Brooks immediately hit the “It’s Brittnie Bitch” (Eye of the Hurricane) for the tainted pin. Good action.
Brittnie Brooks defeated Maggie Lee at 9:27.
7. Rebecca J. Scott vs. B3cca in a leather strap match for the Dreamwave Women’s Title. International pop star B3cca sang her top radio hit “Hot Bod” on her way to the ring. RJS stormed into the ring, dropped her two title belts, and tackled B3cca! The bell rang, but the commentators pointed out that this can’t ‘start’ until they have the leather straps on. The straps were attached and the ref again called for the bell at 1:06. The only way to win is to touch all four corners in succession; I hate those rules.
RJS (whom I always compare to former TNA star Taylor Wilde) whipped B3cca with the strap. B3cca tried to go to the floor, but Rebecca pulled her against the ring frame. They brawled at ringside, and B3cca whipped her into a guardrail at 3:30. B3cca continued to whip her with the strap. They continued to brawl at ringside, and Rebecca whipped her. “Hopefully those scars don’t show up on B3cca’s next tour,” a commentator said. Rebecca pulled B3cca into the ring post at 5:30. They finally got back into the ring, and B3cca repeatedly stomped on RJS.
B3cca started to touch corners (what a stupid stipulation!), but RJS cut her off. RJS started to touch corners, but B3cca kicked her. B3cca tied RJS in the Tree of Woe at 8:00 and whipped her across her exposed stomach! The wrestlers accidentally fell backwards into the ref in the corner, knocking him down! One of B3cca’s entourage jumped into the ring and hit RJS! B3cca it a Death Valley Driver onto a folded chair at 9:30. B3cca touched three corners, but RJS cut her off from reaching the fourth turnbuckle. RJS hit a DDT.
RJS put B3cca on her shoulders and touched three corners, but the entourage tripped RJS at 11:30! The ref saw the cheating, and he ejected the entourage. B3cca hit an RKO stunner. She tied RJS in a Muta Lock and choked Rebecca with the strap! She switched to a Camel Clutch position and continued to choke RJS. RJS hopped on B3cca’s back and tried a rear-naked choke. She hit an enzuigiri and began touching corners. They got up and traded forearm strikes. RJS again hopped on B3cca’s back and choked her out with the strap. RJS finally touched the fourth corner to win the match. Considering I don’t like that stipulation, that is the best way for that one to be done.
Rebecca J. Scott defeated B3cca in a strap match to retain the Dreamwave Women’s Title at 15:45.
* Shazza stormed to the ring and confronted Rebecca J. Scott. She demanded a title shot.
8. Connor Hopkins vs. Effy for the Dreamwave Title. They immediately brawled. I always point out that Effy is taller and thicker than people realize, and he’s bigger than Hopkins. He hit some chops, and he’s not doing any of his gay humor — he’s serious! He hit some running clotheslines in the corner and dropped Hopkins with a hard chop for a nearfall at 1:30. A commentator talked about how Effy has “broken down some barriers and doors in pro wrestling.” On the floor, Effy held Hopkins’ arms back so the kids in the front row could lay in some chops.
Effy tied him in the Tarantula in the ropes at 3:00, then gave Hopkins a swat to the butt. The crowd demanded, “One more time!” so Effy obliged, and he got a nearfall. Hopkins tied Effy in the Tree of Woe and hit a dropkick at 4:30, then a top-rope double stomp to the chest for a nearfall. Effy hit a Northern Lights Suplex for a nearfall at 6:30, then his Earthquake-style buttsplash to the sternum. He hit a second one for a nearfall. Effy hit his second-rope Blockbuster, then a Helluva Kick at 9:00, and he dragged Hopkins to the mat by his leg for a nearfall.
Hopkins hit a running knee for a nearfall. Effy hit a TKO, and he turned it into a Dragon Sleeper! Hopkins raked Effy’s eyes to escape at 11:00. Effy hit a Fameasser for a nearfall. Hopkins hit a jumping knee, then a swinging neckbreaker for a nearfall. They fought on the corner, and Effy forcefully kissed Hopkins, but Hopkins bit Effy’s tongue! Hopkins immediately hit a second-rope Pedigree for the pin.
Connor Hopkins defeated Effy to retain the Dreamwave Title at 14:36.
* The rest of The Curse came to the ring and jumped on Effy and beat him down. 12-Gauge ran down, but they beat him up, too. That brought out Sidney Bakabella and Channing Thomas to make the save. Hartenbower joined the babyfaces, too. Christian Rose left commentary to assist, too.
Final Thoughts: A good show. Despite my reservations on the strap match stipulations, RJS-B3cca earned best match. No surprise that Kody Lane vs. Channing Thomas was really good and took second. The four-way opener was really strong for third place. The main event was fine — I like a straight-forward, serious Effy, and he brought that here today. That said, there was absolutely no mystery over the outcome of the main event, and that hurt it a bit, as the fans never ‘bit’ on any of Effy’s nearfalls because they didn’t expect an outsider to win.
I guess I don’t mind a Hunter Holdcraft heel turn, but having a heel turn just for the sake of having a heel turn makes no sense to me. There hasn’t been any obvious tension between them in recent months. So why? Hunter needs to cut that pitch-perfect promo on the next show to explain his actions. The only complaint is that I expected a good mystery surprise for Hartenbower. Getting a guy I had never heard of who was pinned in under two minutes certainly didn’t reach my expectations of what was going to take place.
