Walker Stewart provided commentary. This is a large gym, or possibly a convention center; it’s an attractive room. The lights were on, and it’s easy to see.
* This year’s field is comprised of 12 teams, divided into TWO six-team Blocks. This is a round-robin tournament, so every team has at least five matches. Today, JUST the B Block is in tournament action. Four teams are tied at 2-1, one team is 1-2, while the team of Titan and Daiki Nagai is 0-3 and has been eliminated.
1. Mistico, Masatora Yasuda, and Shota Umino vs. Kazuma Sumi, Ryusuke Taguchi, and Tatsuya Matsumoto. Taguchi and Yasuda opened, with Yasuda hitting a dropkick. Mistico entered at 1:30 and stomped on Taguchi’s fingers. Taguchi acted like he was knocked out for some ‘comedy.’ Shota unloaded some blows on Taguchi’s rear. Sumi tagged in for the first time at 4:30 and battled Yasuda. He hit a 619 and a standing moonsault for a nearfall.
Yasuda hit a suplex, but Sumi hit a dropkick, and they were both down. Shota and Matsumoto entered. Tatsuya hit a dropkick. Taguchi hit a mid-ring buttbump on Mistico. Shota unloaded a series of blows to Matsumoto’s back, but Matsumoto hit his version of Orange Cassidy’s Beach Break slam. He tied Shota in a Boston Crab, but Umino reached the ropes at 7:30. Shota hit a decapitating clothesline for the pin! Decent action.
Mistico, Masatora Yasuda, and Shota Umino defeated Kazuma Sumi, Ryusuke Taguchi, and Tatsuya Matsumoto at 8:13.
2. “House of Torture” Douki, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, and Yujiro Takashashi vs. Kuukai, Master Wato, and Yushin Hatazawa. For my own sanity, I skipped to the end. (There are only so many House of Torture matches someone should consume.) Wato got a hot tag and battled Kanemaru, hitting a bulldog for a nearfall. Yujiro tied Wato’s legs in the ropes. Hatazawa tagged in and dropped Yujiro with a shoulder tackle, then a bodyslam and a senton for a nearfall. He put Yujiro in a Boston Crab. Kuukai hit a huracanrana on Douki. Kuukai and Wato hit stereo planchas. Yujiro hit an inverted DDT on Yushin, then the Pimp Juice DDT for the pin.
“House of Torture” Douki, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, and Yujiro Takashashi defeated Kuukai, Master Wato, and Yushin Hatazawa.
3. “Unbound Co.” Gedo, Robbie X, and Taiji Ishimori vs. Kushida, Nick Wayne, and Taisei Nakahara. Kushida and Robbie X locked up to open. Wayne got in and battled Robbie. Taisei hit a body slam at 2:30. Gedo entered and worked over Taisei with some punches. Ishimori entered and hit a neckbreaker over his knee on Taisei for a nearfall at 4:30. Gedo kept the Young Lion grounded in a rear chinlock. Taisei hit a dropkick on Gedo, and they were both down.
Nick Wayne got a hot tag at 6:30 and hit a European Uppercut on Ishimori, then a mid-ring Sliced Bread for a nearfall. Ishimori hit his handspring-back-spin kick on Wayne. Wayne pushed Robbie into Ishimori. Wayne and Kushida hit some quick team moves. Robbie got an inside cradle on Kushida for a believable nearfall at 8:30. Taisei hit a splash to the mat for a nearfall. Robbie hit a Lethal Injection on Taisei for the pin. Fun match.

4. Aaron Wolf, Boltin Oleg, and Toru Yano vs. Yuya Uemura, Taichi, and Satoshi Kojima. The seniors in the match, Kojima and Yano, opened. Of course, Satoshi backed Yano into a corner and hit his rapid-fire chops. He hit them on Oleg and Wolf, too. Kojima hit an ugly second-rope elbow drop on Yano for a nearfall at 2:00. (Maybe he should retire that move.) Taichi entered and twisted Yano’s left arm. Wolf tagged in and traded forearm strikes with Taichi.
Taichi hit some spin kicks to Wolf’s thighs. Wolf hit a snap suplex and a running elbow drop for a nearfall at 4:30. Taichi hit a clothesline, and they were both down. 5. “The Swirl” Blake Christian and Lee Johnson (4) vs. “House of Torture” Dick Togo and Sho (2) in a B Block tournament match. A loss would eliminate the HoT. As usual, Sho spoke on the mic and berated the crowd, then they attacked. The Swirl hit stereo moonsaults to the floor from opposite corners. In the ring, Lee hit a hard back elbow on Sho. Togo tripped Blake on the ring apron at 2:30, and those two brawled on the floor. Sho and Lee also fought elsewhere on the floor.
Back in the ring, Togo stomped on Blake and kept him grounded. He hit a stiff kick to Christian’s spine at 4:00. Sho grounded Blake in a headlock. Blake hit a springboard dropkick at 6:00. Lee got the hot tag, and he hit some clotheslines on Sho, then a leaping neckbreaker. Lee hit a diving forearm for a nearfall. Sho hit a spear on Lee at 7:30. He grabbed the stuffed cat that is ‘loaded’ with a weapon; he swung and missed. Blake and Togo got back in, with Christian hitting a series of kicks, then a Lionsault Press for a nearfall.
Togo applied a crossface on the mat, but Lee made the save at 9:00. The HoT hit a spike piledriver on Blake for a nearfall. Togo collapsed and pretended that Blake had hit a low blow. While the ref checked on Togo, Sho hit a low blow on Blake! “This is an absolute joke!” Walker shouted. HoT hit a Magic Killer team slam for a nearfall at 10:30, but Lee made the save. Lee hit a basement dropkick in the corner on Sho. Blake hit another moonsault to the floor on Togo. They hit the Brainrot (top-rope double stomp-and-DVD combo) to pin Togo! The HoT are out!

6. “The Unbound Co.” Titan and Daiki Nagai (0) vs. Hyo and Yoh (4) in a B Block tournament match. Hyo and Nagai opened. Titan tried a huracanrana but Hyo rotated and landed on his feet. Those two both missed dropkicks and had a standoff. Nagai dropped Yoh with a shoulder tackle at 3:00, and he threw Yoh into their corner. Yoh hit a flying forearm on Daiki. Hyo tagged back in at 4:30 and hit an enzuigiri on Titan, then a one-footed dropkick on Nagai.
Daiki hit a dropkick on Hyo. Titan got back in and hit a spin kick on Hyo at 6:00. Lots of crawling on all fours. Titan and Nagai hit stereo dropkicks on Yoh, then they hit stereo dives to the floor at 7:30. In the ring, Titan hit a modified DVD on Hyo. Yoh hit a Lungblower to Nagai’s back. Hyo and Yoh hit a Team 3D-style faceplant on Nagai and pinned him. An awkward landing for Nagai; they handed him an ice pack, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was legit shaken up by that move.
Hyo and Yoh (6) defeated “The Unbound Co.” Titan and Daiki Nagai (0) at 11:53.
7. “United Empire” Francesco Akira and Jakob Austin Young (4) vs. “Ichiban Sweet Boys” Kosei Fujita and Robbie Eagles (4) in a B Block tournament match. Once again, Young and Akira were arguing before the bell; they won their first two matches even though they haven’t gotten along. Like earlier in the tournament, Young attacked by himself; Akira didn’t join in. Fujita hit a running Penalty Kick on Young, and the ISB worked over Jakob in their corner. Eagles applied a modified Stretch Muffler, twisting Young’s leg behind his neck.
Akira entered and hit a bodyslam on Fujita for a nearfall at 2:00, then a standing moonsault. Young made an aggressive tag to Akira at 4:00. Francesco tied Fujita in a modified Tarantula, but let go before the five-count. Kosei hit a flying kick to Young’s jaw at 5:30, and they were both down. Eagles got in and hit a spin kick on Akira. Akira unloaded chops on both opponents, but the ISB kicked him to the floor. Eagles hit a flip dive through the ropes. Meanwhile in the ring, Kosei hit a Burning Hammer on Young for the pin. A strong match.
“Ichiban Sweet Boys” Kosei Fujita and Robbie Eagles (6) defeated “United Empire” Francesco Akira and Jakob Austin Young (4) at 16:17.
Final Thoughts: A solid show. All three tournament matches worked for me. The main event was good, but not in the top handful of matches in the tournament so far, either. I enjoyed the undercard, and have no guilt about skipping half or more of a House of Torture match.
This tournament had a whirlwind schedule. The final A Block matches will be held on Saturday, headlined by Nick Wayne and Kushida vs. Robbie X and Taiji Ishimori. The B Block wraps up on Sunday, and the tournament finale is on Tuesday.
