Wrestling Open RI “Episode 71”
Streamed on IndependentWrestling.TV
October 12, 2026, in Cranston, Rhode Island, at Rhodes On The Pawtuxet
This is an attractive two-story, white ballroom, and the lighting is really good. The crowd was perhaps 80. Referee Scott Robinson, Paul Crockett, and Sloane Jacobs provided commentary.
1. Anthony Kiedis vs. Erik ChaCha in a spotlight match. The Australian star Kiedis is back! He’s the one who looks like a member of “The Addams Family” and the crowd chanted the show’s jingle. Erik got a rollup and he hit a dropkick at 1:00, then a stiff kick to the spine. Kiedis hit a Buckle Bomb. Kiedis stomped on Erik, and the crowd rallied for ChaCha. Kiedis hit a running knee for a nearfall at 4:00. ChaCha hit a flying kick and scored the pin. Solid.
Erik ChaCha defeated Anthony Kiedis at 5:25.
* Paul Crockett took over on commentary, replacing Ref Robinson, as the main show began.
2. Kylie Alexa, Sloane Jacobs, and Paris Van Dale vs. Liviyah, Shannon LeVangie, and Allie Katch. The heels came out together to Alexa’s intro “Girlfriend” by Avril Lavigne, then the babyfaces all came out as a group, too. Shannon and Paris opened. Kylie jumped in, so Allie got in, and Kylie immediately tagged right back out! Sloane used her legs to ram Katch’s head into the turnbuckles. Liviyah hit a double noggin-knocker at 2:00. Liviyah hit a bodyslam on Sloane. Katch hit an elbow drop on Sloane’s back at 3:30. Kylie got in, mounted Katch, and repeatedly punched her.
Alexa pushed Allie into the heel corner, and they worked Katch over. Sloane hit a leg drop across the chest for a nearfall at 5:00. Paris hit running double knees to Allie’s back for a nearfall. Kylie hit a stiff kick to the spine and a senton for a nearfall. Liviyah finally got a hot tag at 7:00, and she hit some clotheslines. She nailed a German Suplex on Sloane and a Michinoku Driver on Paris for a nearfall. Sloane hit a Gory Bomb on Katch. Alexa hit a neckbreaker over her knee on Shannon. Paris hit a double-arm DDT on Liv. However, Allie Katch hit a piledriver on Paris for the pin! Good action; a lot of talent in this one.
Liviyah, Shannon LeVangie, and Allie Katch defeated Kylie Alexa, Sloane Jacobs, and Paris Van Dale at 8:38.
* Liv got on the mic and put over Katch, noting that Allie is getting a title match on Thursday. Liviyah then turned her attention to Sammi Chaos and challenged her to come back next Monday for a match!
3. Vinny “VSK” Scalice (w/Bryce Donovan) vs. All Go Nelli. This match wasn’t advertised in advance. Poor Nelli… he once again got the “already in the ring” treatment. (This has to be leading to a 1-2-3 Kid type moment, right?) They immediately traded forearm strikes. Vinny hit some European Uppercuts. Vinny hit a uranage over his knee at 1:30. Nelli hit a DDT! VSK hit a “Dudebuster” piledriver along his back for the pin. Solid.
Vinny “VSK” Scalice defeated All Go Nelli at 3:10.
* Bryce cut a heel promo, saying “This is the Verdict’s show.”
* Sloane Jacobs joined Crockett! I don’t think she’s done commentary here before. She immediately blamed Paris Van Dale for “doing us dirty” and costing her team the win earlier.
4. Jordan Cruz vs. Jermaine Marbury (w/Benny the Basketball). West Coast star Cruz is back; he was here maybe four to six weeks ago. It is worth reiterating what a wide, strong frame he has. He immediately hit a bodyslam on Jermaine. Marbury hit a Crucifix Driver for a nearfall at 1:30. Cruz hit a shoulder-breaker over his knee. Sloane boasted about being on Tubi every week, and that Wrestling Open wants her there as much as possible. Cruz applied a chin lock and kept the smaller Jermaine grounded. Jermaine fired up and hit some clotheslines and a StunDog Millionaire. He hit the Dreamshake Cutter and got the pin! Much shorter than expected.
Jermaine Marbury defeated Jordan Cruz at 4:54.
* Sloane Jacobs was annoyed that Crockett kept interrupting her (talking about herself) to call the action. She threw down the headset and stormed off.
* Devin Reno was slated to face Bear Bronson tonight, but due to Bear’s “TNA obligations,” that match has been postponed. Devin spoke on the stage with ring announcer Rich Palladino and said he’s the rightful champion. The match will be held in two weeks!
5. Anthony Vecchio vs. Bobby Casale. Casale wore his Wrestling Open Tag Team Title. Vecchio immediately went to the floor to stall. Casale eventually went to the floor, and they brawled at ringside. Casale hit a suplex as they re-entered the ring at 2:00. Vecchio hit an eye poke and threw Bobby face-first into the middle turnbuckle. Vecchio backed him into a corner and hit some chops; Bobby fired back with some chops and roundhouse kicks! Vecchio hit a missile dropkick for a nearfall at 4:00.
Casale hit a snap German Suplex and more roundhouse kicks, then a Gory Bomb faceplant. He hit a suplex into the turnbuckles and a running Facewash Kick. Bobby hit a sit-out powerbomb for a nearfall. Bobby hit some Yes Kicks, and he went for a sleeper, but Vecchio quickly reached the ropes. Casale missed a senton. Vecchio hit a Helluva Kick and a Michinoku Driver for a nearfall at 7:00. Vecchio went for a sleeper. Bobby escaped and hit a Dominator swinging faceplant! However, VSK appeared and distracted the ref! Bryce jumped in the ring and struck Casale with a title belt! Vecchio covered the prone Casale and got the tainted pin!
Anthony Vecchio defeated Bobby Casale at 8:24.
* Vecchio scampered away. Bryce hit a chokeslam on Casale. Crockett did a good job of explaining that the Verdict did that because they want a title shot — they weren’t bringing Vecchio into their faction. Bryce got on the mic and said they will become tag champions next week!
6. Aaron Rourke vs. Rain Conway. They tied up, and Rain threw him to the mat. Rourke hit a Russian Leg Sweep. Rourke flipped him out of the corner and got a nearfall at 1:30. Rain stomped on Rourke and kept him grounded. He hit a hard clothesline for a nearfall at 3:00. Rourke hit a series of kicks. Conway hit a gut-wrench suplex for a nearfall. Rourke hit a missile dropkick at 5:00, a leg lariat, and a German Suplex. He hit a backbreaker over his knee, then another one!
Rourke hit a sit-out powerbomb for a nearfall. Rain hit a German Suplex that dumped Aaron on his head. Conway hit a fisherman’s suplex for a believable nearfall at 7:00, then he applied an ankle lock. Rourke applied his standing reverse Texas Cloverleaf! Rain tried to reach the ropes, but Aaron pulled him back to the center of the ring, so Conway tapped out. I liked that; Rain continues to improve, and Aaron is just so talented.
Aaron Rourke defeated Rain Conway at 7:44.
* A video package aired to highlight the main event!
7. Marcus Mathers and Dustin Waller vs. “Flyin'” Ryan O’Neill and Bobby Orlando. A heel Mathers feels so different! He came out in a well-worn jacket, rather than his flashy robes. Waller carried his folder containing his guaranteed match contract. Ryan came out last; he charged into the ring and tackled Marcus, and we’re underway! We got a bell to officially begin at 00:36. Ryan hit a series of punches on Marcus, then on Dustin. Waller hit a leg lariat on O’Neill, mounted Ryan, and repeatedly punched him, then mockingly made Ryan’s ‘flying’ motion with his arms. (Dustin has become such an awesome heel.)
Bobby entered for the first time at 2:30 and hit some jab punches on Dustin, and a scoop bodyslam on Marcus for a one-count. Marcus repeatedly stomped on Orlando. The babyfaces began working over Dustin in their corner. Bobby set up for a dive, but Marcus tripped him and slammed Orlando on the ring apron at 5:00. The heels immediately began working over Bobby and kept him grounded. The crowd rallied for Orlando, but Dustin yanked Bobby to the mat by his hair at 7:00.
Marcus hit a snap suplex and stood over Bobby and jawed at him. Crockett wondered what had gotten into Mathers that he was acting so crazy. Orlando finally hit a neckbreaker on Waller. Ryan got the hot tag at 9:00, and he hit a crossbody block on Mathers and a fisherman’s suplex for a nearfall. Mathers hit his mule kick to the jaw on Ryan, then Waller hit a running Shooting Star Press on Ryan for a nearfall at 10:30! Nice combo. Bobby jumped in and hit some jab punches on Marcus. Bobby hit a double suplex! He went for his Athena-style flying stunner, but Mathers avoided it.
Ryan got back in, and he traded punches with Mathers! Waller hit a springboard clothesline and a Lethal Injection, and suddenly everyone was down at 13:00, and we got a “This is awesome!” chant. They all got up and traded punches. Marcus accidentally kicked Waller! Orlando hit a dive to the floor on Dustin. Meanwhile, Ryan hit a stunner on Marcus, and he went to the top turnbuckle, but Waller shoved him to the mat. Marcus immediately rolled up Ryan with a handful of tights for the tainted pin! That was fun.
Marcus Mathers and Dustin Waller defeated Flyin’ Ryan O’Neill and Bobby Orlando at 14:55.
Final Thoughts: Another really strong episode, and I really like the entire roster used this week. A really sharp main event earned best of the night. Ryan is still just a teen but has faced so many top talents and doesn’t look out of place at all. Both Waller and Mathers are still in their early 20s. WWE’s decision to let Mathers go will never make sense to me.
Casale-Vecchio was really good for second, and the six-woman tag takes third. Conway held his own against Rourke. If I had a complaint, it’s that I would have liked the talented Jordan Cruz to at least have closer to a 50-50 match with Marbury.
All Go Nelli is fairly decent, but they’ve squashed him over and over and given him the “already in the ring” treatment repeatedly. Yes, for those of us who were watching WWF Raw in real time and saw 1-2-3 Kid beat Razor Ramon, it was pretty shocking. I just have a feeling that’s where we’re headed here… some heel is going to take Nelli not seriously, and Nelli is going to get a big win out of nowhere.
I watched this live. It should be posted on IWTV on Tuesday.
