Wrestling Open RI “Episode 70 – Set It Off”
Streamed on IndependentWrestling.TV
October 5, 2026, in Cranston, Rhode Island, at Rhodes On The Pawtuxet

The venue is an attractive two-story, white ballroom, and the lighting is really good. The crowd was perhaps 80; definitely down a bit from recent weeks. Paul Crockett and “Handyman” Jake Gray provided commentary.

* I had a meeting Monday night, so I wasn’t home to watch this live, and I missed the spotlight match. Sammi Chaos apparently won; I didn’t hear the name of her opponent.

1. Dustin Waller vs. Bobby Orlando. Waller came out first, holding his “Opportunity Knocks” contract. He got on the mic and said next week, it will be Waller and Marcus Mathers vs. Orlando and Flyin’ Ryan O’Neill. Bobby charged at him at the bell, and he hit a back-body drop. Waller hit a series of kicks. He went for a Lethal Injection at 2:30, but Bobby caught him and hit a Blue Thunder Bomb.

Bobby hit some jab punches and a running neckbreaker. Orlando hit a running Electric Chair drop for a nearfall at 4:00. Waller hit the Lethal Injection, and he took control. Orlando hit a running knee and a Canadian Destroyer for a nearfall at 6:30. Bobby set up for a top-rope elbow drop, but Dustin rolled to safety. Bobby caught him with a superkick. Orlando got an O’Connor Roll for the flash pin! Good opener, but nothing was decided.

Bobby Orlando defeated Dustin Waller at 7:54.

2. “Simply The Best” Brett Ryan Gosselin and Oxx Adams vs. “Northern Thunder” London Lightning and Storm Ryder. Northern Thunder are regulars in Canada. I know these two competed last summer in the Deep South, but I’m not sure if they’ve been at Wrestling Open before. The heels came out first, and BRG cut a heel promo. He opened against Ryder, and Storm knocked him down with a shoulder tackle. London entered and hit some jab punches and some Atomic Drops, so BRG could make some exaggerated facial expressions.

Oxx jumped in and tossed Lightning to the floor. He slammed Ryder back-first on the apron at 3:00, and he pushed London back into the ring. The heels took turns working over London in their corner. Oxx hit a backbreaker over his knee at 5:00 and bent London in half! Ryder finally got the hot tag, and he hit a release German Suplex on BRG at 6:30 and some splashes in the corner. Ryder hit an Exploder Suplex and pulled down his straps.

Ryder dove through the ropes onto Oxx! In the ring, Northern Thunder hit some rolling elbows on Brett for a nearfall. Ryder hit a standing powerbomb on Brett. Oxx hit a double clothesline and a double chokeslam, and pinned London. Good action. I’ve had Northern Thunder on my shortlist of wrestlers who should be competing in Maple Leaf Pro, as they are really talented.

“Simply The Best” Brett Ryan Gosselin and Oxx Adams defeated “Northern Thunder” London Lightning and Storm Ryder at 8:07.

* We saw a video from Anthony Greene, who is stuck in Abu Dhabi, so he was unable to make it to this show. (He showed the window of his hotel room to prove he is indeed in the United Arab Emirates!) The next match was supposed to be a tag match, but instead it’s just a singles match.

3. Vinny “VSK” Scalice (w/Bryce Donovan) vs. Channing Thomas. The heels came out first and demanded that Referee Gina declare them the winner via forfeit. Channing Thomas ran into the ring with his suitcase, saying he just arrived. He’s not dressed to wrestle, but he’s ready to fight… right now! VSK got in the ring, and we got the bell! Channing hit a barefooted dropkick! He’s in a white T-shirt and pants. Channing hit a delayed vertical suplex at 1:00 and a flying elbow drop for a nearfall. On the floor, Bryce whipped Channing into the ring post! In the ring, VSK hit a second-rope diving European Uppercut to the back at 3:00.

Channing hit a German Suplex, then a spear into the corner, and another suplex at 5:30. He hit a spin kick for a nearfall. Channing went for a spear but crashed into the corner. Vinny immediately hit a neckbreaker over his knee and was back in charge. Channing applied a Boston Crab at 7:30. He hit a fisherman’s buster for a nearfall, but Bryce put Scalice’s foot on the ropes. Ref Gina admonished him. Vinny got a rollup with a handful of tights for a believable nearfall! Scalice threw powder in Channing’s face and hit the “Dudebuster” piledriver along his back for the tainted pin.

Vinny “VSK” Scalice defeated Channing Thomas at 8:50.

4. Rain Conway vs. Erik ChaCha. Some basic offense early, and Erik slapped him, then flipped Rain into the corner. He hit his Yes Kicks to Rain’s chest, but Conway caught a leg and hit a suplex into the turnbuckles at 1:30! Ouch! Erik hit a clothesline; Rain hit a harder clothesline. Erik dropped him with a pump kick and a double-underhook suplex, then more Yes Kicks at 3:30. (For guys who aren’t perceived as the upper half of the roster, these guys are bringing it!) Conway nailed the Rainmaker clothesline for a believable nearfall, but he pulled up Erik at the two-count! However, ChaCha immediately hit a running knee to the sternum for the pin!

Erik ChaCha defeated Rain Conway at 4:22.

5. Kylie Alexa vs. Paris Van Dale vs. Liviyah vs. Shannon LeVangie in a four-way for the Wrestling Open Women’s Title. Shannon and Paris immediately brawled, while Liv and Alexa traded strikes. Shannon and Liv hit stereo Helluva Kicks in opposite corners. Liviyah slammed Shannon onto Paris; they both went for the cover and stopped. Before they could fight or argue, Kylie hit both of them! Kylie hit a flying buttbump on Liviyah at 1:30. The heels began working over Liviyah. They hit Meteoras and buttbumps in opposite corners on the babyfaces.

Kylie went for a cover, but Paris pulled her off of Liviyah. Paris got a backslide on Liviyah. Liviyah hit a spear on Kylie. Paris hit a spinning X-Factor on Liviyah at 3:30. Shannon tried a springboard double stunner that didn’t quite connect as intended. Shannon hit a stunner on Paris. Shannon hit a frog splash. However, Kylie hit a Michinoku Driver on Shannon. Liviyah hit a TKO stunner on Kylie. Shannon hit a superkick on Paris at 5:00! Liv got both heels across her shoulders, but Shannon hit a missile dropkick to knock them all down! Nice!

They all traded forearm strikes. Kylie and Liviyah hit stereo Michinoku Drivers for stereo nearfalls at 7:00! Paris hit a sunset flip, tossing Shannon into the turnbuckles! Ouch! However, Kylie hit her dropkick in the corner on Shannon for a nearfall, but Liv made the save. Liviyah and Kylie traded forearm strikes. Kylie hit a Lungblower to Liv’s face, but Liv hit a spear and another TKO stunner on Kylie! Sammi Chaos appeared, got in the ring, and she hit a German Suplex on Liviyah! She pulled Alexa on top for the tainted pin. “You gotta be kidding me!” Crockett said.

Kylie Alexa defeated Paris Van Dale, Liviyah, and Shannon LeVangie in a four-way to retain the Wrestling Open Women’s Title at 9:08.

6. Bobby Casale and Bear Bronson vs. Devin Reno and Anthony Vecchio. Casale wore his tag title belt, while Bronson carried his Wrestling Open title. Casale was going to start, but he tagged in Reno instead. So, Devin opened against Casale. Bear and Casale threw them both into one corner and hit a series of chops and kicks on them, and the heels rolled to the floor at 2:30 to regroup. Casale followed and fought with Vecchio, while Bronson fought Reno. Casale sat Vecchio in a chair and hit some roundhouse kicks to the chest.

Finally back in the ring, Reno choked Bronson in the ropes at 5:00, and the heels kept Bear grounded. Vecchio stood behind Bronson and hit a series of blows to Bear’s chest. Bear got up and hit some punches on Reno. He hit his butt drop to Devin’s chest at 8:30. Vecchio and Casale brawled, so Bobby wasn’t in the corner for the hot tag! The heels continued to work over Bear. Bear broke through a double clothesline and finally tagged in Bobby at 10:00! Casale hit some spin kicks. He hit a neckbreaker over his knee on Vecchio and a German Suplex on Reno, then another.

Casale hit a backbreaker over his knee on Vecchio and a Facewash Kick on Reno, then a powerslam on Reno for a nearfall. Vecchio hit a Pump Kick on Casale. Bobby applied a rear-naked choke, and he hit an Air Raid Crash for a nearfall at 12:30, but Reno made the save. Vecchio hit a TKO Stunner on Casale for a believable nearfall! Vecchio mounted Bobby and repeatedly punched him; the commentators noted he “has lost his cool.” Reno got in and tried to calm down his teammate!

Bear jumped in and hit a double clothesline and then splashes in opposite corners. Reno tried to push him into an exposed corner, but Bear was able to stop. Reno hit a sideslam on Bear. Vecchio hit a missile dropkick on Casale, then a superkick on Bear. Bronson caught Vecchio and hit a Black Hole Slam, then the Fire Thunder Driver to pin Anthony. A strong finish to a very good show. Bronson started to celebrate, but Reno jumped back in and rammed Bear’s forehead into the exposed corner!

Bobby Casale and Bear Bronson defeated Devin Reno and Anthony Vecchio at 15:12.

Final Thoughts: A really strong show and so much to like here. A really good main event with all four looking good. The women had a sprint of a match, and that takes second. Even though it was short, Orlando-Waller took third, and it set the stage for next week’s tag match.

No complaints here at all; even the undercard match of Conway-ChaCha was hard-hitting and inspired, and certainly topped expectations. If I have a complaint, it’s that I don’t understand why Channing Thomas was late to the building. From what it sounded like, it doesn’t appear he was overseas with Greene, so it’s unclear why he showed up late and had to wrestle in his street clothes. All that said, it was still a really good match.
