Andy Williams, who wrestled as The Butcher, had a medical emergency on Saturday night at the end of his match at the Enjoy Wrestling event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The promotion issued the following statement via social media:
“Andy collapsed at the end of his match this evening. Our doctors on staff tended to him immediately, administering CPR until the ambulance arrived. We sent everyone home and are at the hospital now, waiting for more information. Thanks to everyone who helped and has reached out.” For updates, follow Enjoy Wrestling’s Twitter/X Page.
Powell’s POV: Williams works as one half of The Butcher and The Blade tag team that appeared on AEW television. In fact, he was teaming with The Blade (Jesse Guilmette) on Saturday night at the Enjoy Wrestling event when the incident occurred. Fightful.com cited fan reports stating that Williams’ legs gave out and he went to the floor. The Blade called for help and tried to get his partner to his feet, but Williams collapsed and passed out. Paramedics performed chest compressions and used a defibrillator before rushing Williams to the hospital. The promotion made the right call by ending the show. It’s obviously a very serious situation. My thoughts are with Williams, his family, and friends.
The Butcher and The Blade are dropping by 829 Industry St. on Friday Sept. 9th. offering a rare opportunity for a sick seminar with a world-traveled team.
