Wrestling Revolver “Cage of Horrors”
Dayton, Ohio, at Calumet Center

This streamed live and free on their YouTube channel. (Like many other promotions, Revolver recently left streaming service Triller+.) This is a really small gym — on par with an elementary school — they always draw a packed crowd of 250. Bork Torkleson and Joe Dombrowski provided commentary. The commentators agreed, “I don’t think we could fit another body in here.” Lighting is merely okay; it’s not terrible but certainly not ideal.
* I always point out this is Sami Callihan’s promotion, and he uses a lot of current and former TNA wrestlers. Unfortunately, Lio Rush announced midday Saturday that he had flight delays and would not be able to attend. Lio was slated to face Juni Underwood.
1. Gringo Loco vs. Alan Angels vs. Rocky Romero. Rocky was added to this match earlier in the day. Alan attacked Rocky as Romero entered the ring, and we’re underway! Rocky hit a huracanrana on Loco. Those two each did some hip swivels. Alan got between them and ‘danced.’ The crowd booed whatever the heck Angels was doing! Angels hit a huracanrana to the floor on Loco, then a top-rope crossbody block in the ring on Rocky at 3:30.
Romero unloaded some chops. Angels put Rocky in a half-crab at 5:00. Loco got back in and hit a senton on Rocky. Loco hit a flip dive to the floor. In the ring, he hit a split-legged moonsault on Angels for a nearfall at 6:30, but Alan got a foot on the ropes. Rocky hit a huracanrana on Angels, then one on Loco! Rocky hit his Forever Clotheslines in opposite corners on both opponents.
Rocky hit a mid-ring Sliced Bread on Angels for a nearfall at 8:30, but Loco made the save. Angels trapped Rocky’s head in the corner, kicked him in the face, then hit a running powerbomb in the center of the ring for a believable nearfall. Loco hit the Base Bomb (spinning second-rope powerbomb) on Angels. However, Rocky hooked both of Gringo’s arms, flipped him over, and scored the pin on Loco! A good way to open the show.
Rocky Romero defeated Gringo Loco and Alan Angels at 10:07.
* An official announced that Wrestling Revolver is moving to IWTV and their back catalog will be there. (Again, another promotion fully cutting ties with Triller+).
* Amazonga and “Tye or Die” Ryan Matthias and KJ Reynolds introduced their new faction partner, Rory Shield. I saw her compete in the Twin Cities a year ago; she’s a Michigan-based talent.
2. Steph De Lander vs. Rory Shield. Rory is of average height (maybe 5’5″) and overall size, so SDL towers over her. Rory hit some forearm strikes and stomps in the corner. Steph hit some chops, then a sidewalk slam for a nearfall at 2:30. Rory hit a hammerlock DDT for a nearfall. She tied up the left arm, but Steph hit a suplex at 4:30, and Steph was fired up. She hit a splash in one corner, then another. Steph hit a fallaway slam for a nearfall. Rory applied a Muta Lock, but Steph reached the ropes. Rory got a rollup with her feet on the ropes, but the ref saw it and stopped counting. Rory got up and berated the ref. Steph scooped Rory up, slammed her face-first, and scored the pin. Solid.
Steph De Lander defeated Rory Shield at 6:48.
3. “Killer Goat” Myron Reed and Killer Kelly vs. “The Outbreak” Abel Booker and Jacksyn Crowley (w/Barnabus The Bizarre). Again, the Outbreak are “Walking Dead”-style zombies. They walk slowly and want to bite their opponents. I’ve seen them maybe four times now, and they are good humor. Killer Goat kicked them to the floor, and we’re underway! Reed hit a plancha to the floor. The Zombies are identical to me; they took turns battling Reed in the ring. Kelly got a hot tag at 2:30, and she hit a hard clothesline to the back of a head, which led to a nearfall.
Kelly pulled one of the zombies’ hair and yanked him to the mat. Killer Goat took control. A zombie clotheslined Reed for a nearfall at 6:30. The zombies hit a team Flatliner move on Myron. A zombie hit a top-rope crossbody block for a nearfall, but Kelly pulled the ref to the floor to stop the count. Kelly struck Barnabus! In the ring, one of the zombies got a rollup on Kelly. Kelly hit a low- blow kick. He tried to bite Kelly! She hit a DVD into the corner. Myron immediately hit a 450 Splash for the pin. Fun action.
“Killer Goat” Myron Reed and Killer Kelly vs. “The Outbreak” Abel Booker and Jacksyn Crowley at 8:55.
4. Amazonga and “Tye or Die” Ryan Matthias and KJ Reynolds (w/Rory Shield) vs. Rich Swann, Jake Crist, and Trey Miguel for the Revolver Six-Man Tag Titles. Matthias (think a long-haired Peter Avalon) opened against Crist, who has dyed his hair pink today; that’s new. Jake hit a plancha and threw Matthias back into the ring, where he hit a top-rope crossbody block for a nearfall. Swann and Reynolds tied up at 2:00, and Rich hit a dropkick. Swann and Crist hit a team X-Factor on Reynolds for a nearfall. Amazonga entered for the first time. Trey tried a clothesline. He hit a huracanrana and a dropkick that sent the 350-pounder to the floor.
Amazonga hit a Bulldog Powerslam on Rich and pulled him into their corner. Matthias hit a superplex on Swann, and they were both down at 6:30. Amazonga hit a Doomsday Device clothesline on Crist. The champs tied Crist in the Tree of Woe. Matthias hit a basement dropkick to Jake’s face. Crist hit a top-rope guillotine leg drop on Matthias at 9:30. Trey entered and traded punches with Reynolds. Trey hit an enzuigiri on Amazonga. They all tied up, and the challengers hit stereo suplexes on the champs at 11:00.
Crist and Swann hit stereo dives to the floor. Trey hit a flip dive to the floor onto everyone. In the ring, Crist hit a DVD and stuffed piledriver for a believable nearfall at 12:30, but the ref was pulled to the floor! Matthias stood on Amazonga’s shoulders and leapt onto the challengers on the floor at 14:00! In the ring, Amazonga hit a moonsault on Swann! Reynolds jumped on Swann for a nearfall. KJ grabbed a title belt, but the ref confiscated it. Trey grabbed a belt, but he accidentally struck the ref. Trey rolled up Reynolds, and a second referee made the three-count! New champions! BUT WAIT! The original referee disqualified Trey Miguel for striking him with the title belt.
* Revolver executive Phil Stamper came to the ring and he restarted the match, but this time it’s no-DQ! I hadn’t cleared my stopwatch, so I restarted it with a bell. Swann hit a Lethal Injection. Crist hit a corner fadeaway double stunner. Amazonga hit some discus clotheslines. Crist got the massive Amazonga up and hit a forward Finlay Roll. Swann hit a 450 Splash, and Trey hit a top-rope Meteora to Amazonga’s jaw for the pin. New champions!
Rich Swann, Jake Crist, and Trey Miguel defeated Amazonga and “Tye or Die” Ryan Matthias and KJ Reynolds to win the Revolver Six-Man Tag Titles at 17:07.
* Intermission time! They showed Jon Moxley vs. Mike Speedball. Bailey appeared in a new video to narrate the opening of the video. Intermission went 20 minutes.
5. The Golden Ticket scramble. The participants were Troy Parker, Juni Underwood, “Starman” Harley Rock, Nathan Davis, Sabin Gauge, Koda Hernandez, Thomas Heim, Damian Chambers (w/Kayla Kassidy), Bigg Pound. I’ve seen Thomas Heim and Harley Rock in nearby Chicago-based AAW. I don’t think I’ve seen Nathan before, and I see he doesn’t have a cagematch.net bio yet. Koda and Sabin are regular teammates. A commentator just confirmed this is Thomas Heim’s Revolver debut. Koda flipped Sabin onto Harley.
Juni hit a splash onto Rock, as a commentator noted that Juni was supposed to be facing Lio Rush tonight. Bigg Pound hit a Black Hole Slam on Parker, then a senton at 3:00. Chambers flipped Heim over the top rope onto several guys on the floor. Parker hit a plancha to the floor. Juni hit a corner crossbody block to the floor. Harley superkicked Bigg Pound on the apron. Pound leapt off the apron and splashed onto several guys on the floor.
In the ring, Heim and Rock sat on shoulders, and they punched each other in a ‘chicken fight.’ Someone in a hoodie jumped in the ring to confront Chambers, but Damian punched him in the gut and set up for a DDT. However, the guy escaped and hit a Canadian Destroyer. Kayla jumped in and hit Parker. Everyone started hitting finishers. Juni hit a double under-hook twisting neckbreaker for a nearfall. Chambers hit a faceplant on Juni and scored the pin!
Damian Chambers won a nine-man scramble at 9:54 to earn the Golden Ticket title shot.
* Steve Maclin appeared in a video. He was slated to be in the next match, but couldn’t make it. He was replaced by Madman Fulton.
6. “The Algorithm” Joe Alonzo, Crash Jaxon, Brent Oakley, and Joshua Bishop vs. Madman Fulton, BDE, and “Alpha Sig” Dick Meyers and KC Jacobs in a Frat House Rules match. The stipulation means if you attempt a pinfall and don’t get the pin, you must consume a drink! Unfortunately, the more I see of Meyers, Jacobs, and Oakley, the less impressed I’ve become with their in-ring skills. But they seem to do okay in these brawls. Everyone had a drink before the bell, then they all brawled. In a fun spot, Bishop went to chokeslam two guys; they fell to the mat and pretended like Bishop was trying to pin them. They kicked out, so Bishop must drink!
Bishop and Fulton brawled. In more comedy, Bishop threw BDE onto someone for a pin attempt, so BDE was now forced to drink at 4:00. Fulton hit a top-rope somersault onto several guys on the floor. They all brawled on the floor. In the ring, Dick Meyers and Brent Oakley traded multiple rollups, so they had to drink at 8:00, and they both collapsed. Bishop hit a big powerbomb on BDE. Meyers hit a top-rope flying headbutt to Jaxon’s groin at 10:00. Crash threw the ref onto Meyers for a pin attempt! Yes, the ref must drink!
Brent hit a double chokeslam. He bodyslammed Fulton. Meyers hit a stunner on Oakley for a nearfall at 13:00. Alonzo hit a stunner for a nearfall. (The big problem with this stipulation is how the action keeps coming to a halt so someone can consume a beverage. The match was devoid of any natural flow.) Crash hit a uranage on BDE for a nearfall at 14:30. Brent accidentally hit a back elbow on Alonzo! Jacobs and Meyers struck Oakley in the head. BDE hit a frog splash to pin Alonzo. Blah. That went on far too long.
Madman Fulton BDE, and “Alpha Sig” Dick Meyers and KC Jacobs defeated “The Algorithm” Joe Alonzo, Crash Jaxon, Brent Oakley, and Joshua Bishop in a Frat House Rules match at 17:25.
* Bishop and Crash argued! Alonzo had to jump between them to play peacemaker.
* Another 15-minute break to set up the “Cage of Horrors” — which isn’t a cage at all. There are just two cage walls, placed on opposite sides of the ring, and some barbed wire.
7. Mance Warner vs. Krule vs. Alex Colon in a Cage of Horrors for the Revolver Title. Mance and Colon charged at Krule at the bell and attacked him. Basic brawling from all three. Krule hit a back suplex on Colon, dropping him onto an open chair for a nearfall at 4:30. Mance jabbed a metal piece into Krule’s forehead. Colon dove through the ropes onto Krule at 6:00. They all brawled at ringside. Everyone was bleeding from their foreheads. Mance and Colon clanged chairs, and Mance got a nearfall at 10:00.
Krule hit a double chokeslam. He hit a faceplant on Mance for a nearfall. They all brawled back to the floor. Mance threw a chair at Krule’s head. So unnecessary. Mance slammed door shards over Krule’s head. Krule repeatedly threw Mance against a door in the corner at 17:00, but the door wouldn’t break! Colon hit a top-rope elbow drop onto Krule, who was in a ‘cage wall hammock,’ so to speak. Mance splashed onto both of them at 20:00. Krule and Colon traded more blows. Colon stood on top of the cage and splashed onto Mance.
Damian Chambers came to the ring at 23:30 and cashed in his Golden Ticket! This is now a four-way! He hit a piledriver on Mance for a believable nearfall. He hit a Pedigree on Colon. Krule slammed Chambers face-first to the mat, but Chambers kicked out. Mance speared Krule through a door in the corner. Kayla Kassidy struck Colon on the back with a chair. Chambers put Colon on his shoulders and slammed him face-first to the mat and scored the pin! New champion! Bork proclaimed this “The greatest night in professional wrestling history!”
Damian Chambers defeated Mance Warner, Krule, and Alex Colon in a Cage of Horrors to win the Revolver Title at 25:46.
Final Thoughts: I am always hit-or-miss on Revolver shows, and whether I really enjoy it or not usually depends on whether it will feature a violent deathmatch. This show definitely gets a thumbs in the middle, leaning slightly down. I enjoyed that three-way opener for best match, and the six-man tag match earned second. Losing both Steve Maclin and Lio Rush to travel issues really hurt this show. Myron and Kelly are always fun together, and I’ll give that match a distant third place.
The main event was an okay brawl. Chambers cashing in was a predictable outcome after he won the Golden Ticket earlier in the show. (And kayfabe, it makes sense to wait until the match is more than 20 minutes in before joining it.)
Chambers started here as an enhancement guy, often losing quickly. But he has a great look and tons of heel charisma. He and Kayla are a pretty entertaining heel power couple. I’m not minding the title change to him one bit. I hope we’re done with the Frat House Rules matches. I think they’ve squeezed every good idea out of it.
