CM Punk made a surprise appearance at the end of Tuesday’s WWE Backstage television show. Punk joined the hosts on the set, approached the main camera, and said: “It’s as simple as this, just when they think they’ve got the answers, I change the culture. I’ll see you here next week.”

Powell’s POV: Punk debuted on WWE Backstage a week after the show bombed in its regular slot premiere on FS1 with just 49,000 viewers. It will be interesting to see how much his involvement ends up moving the needle going forward.

Update: Fox issued a press release that labeled Punk as a as a “special contributor and analyst” and stated that he will make “select appearances” on the show.

  1. Pretty disapointed in Punk. Not that I’d be watching anyway, but tp make your return after all these years on a show like this and during this peroid in their history… it’s icky.

I hope he’s being paid very well.

    • even in a “they need me more than I need them” scenario where they capitulated to his every demand this seems all kinds of wrong.

  2. After the Colt Cabana interview, after the lawsuit, after the MMA career, Punk finds his way home to WWE.

I hope he enjoys losing to Brock in the WrestleMania main event.

“surprise appearance”… wtf?! Since Starrcast III in August and reports that he was at meetings for the show in late September… yeah sure BIG surprise… do wrestling “reporters” and fans really have so short memory? Vince loves you. Who cares what happened last week…
