Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson announced at Friday’s UFC 244 weigh-ins that he will star as fighter Mark Kerr in the film Smashing Machine. The film will be produced by Rock’s Seven Bucks Productions. Read more at Deadline.com.

Powell’s POV: Kerr was featured in the 2003 HBO documentary The Smashing Machine that chronicled his career and addiction to painkillers. The Rock was well received by the New York City crowd and made his entrance to his WWE theme. He will also appear at UFC 244 tonight to present the BMF Title to the winner of the Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal.

The Pro Wrestling Boom Podcast with Jason Powell features Frank Zarrillo discussing his film "The Wrestler: A QT Marshall Story", which includes appearances by Matt Riddle, Damian Priest, Gerald Brisco, Kevin Kelly, Steve Corino, and many more, the involvement of Marshall's wife and mother, and much more. Stick around after the interview for Powell's audio review of Wednesday's AEW Dynamite television show...
