The Atlanta Journal-Constitution features a piece on the pro wrestling landscape changing. NWA owner Billy Corgan spoke about the vision for his product. “We want something that feels a little more rough around the edges, kind of like how I like my rock and roll,” Corgan said. “We want to bring back the chaos and anarchy into the wrestling product.”

Meanwhile, Cody spoke about AEW focussing more on the in-ring product. “When other things lack in our industry, the first thing you look back toward is the ring itself,” Cody said. “If the fights and storylines aren’t compelling, fans won’t come.” Cody also spoke about the independent wrestling boom. “The indie boom turned into the AEW boom,” he said.

The NWA’s Dave Lagana also spoke about the brewing war between AEW and WWE. “They want to compete with WWE,” Lagana said of AEW. “As much as they say they don’t, they obviously are.” Read the full story at AJC.com.

Powell’s POV: The story also features quotes from Dallas Page and Ring of Honor’s Joe Koff. It incorporates takes from Georgia personalities Cody and Page, as well as the NWA crew, which will be holding their studio wrestling tapings on September 30 and October 1 in Atlanta. The author noted that WWE declined to comment.
