Ring of Honor announced the following matches for the Summer Supercard event that will be held on August 9 in Toronto, Ontario at Mattamy Athletic Center.

-Matt Taven vs. Alex Shelley for the ROH Championship.

-Nick Aldis vs. a member of Villain Enterprises for the NWA Championship.

-Caristico, Stuka Jr., and Soberano Jr. vs. Barbaro Cavernario, Hechicero, and Templario.

Powell’s POV: This event will be broadcast live on HonorClub the Friday of WWE’s SummerSlam weekend, which is also being held in Toronto. It will be interesting to see how they reintroduce Shelley to the storylines and he ends up in the title picture from a storyline standpoint following a long layoff. The story of the NWA Title match is that Aldis left it up to Marty Scurll to decide which member of Villain Enterprises will challenge him for the title, so it could be Scurll, PCO, Brody King, or Flip Gordon in the challenger role. I’m sure the lucha trios match will be entertaining, but I really wish ROH would take the time to tell stories with the luchadores rather than book them in matches without storyline support. Wikipedia lists the capacity of the host venue as 3,850.
