New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced the following matches for the opening night of the G1 Tournament that will be held on July 6 in Dallas, Texas at American Airlines Center.

-Kazuchika Okada vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi in an A Block tournament match.

-Kota Ibushi vs. Kenta in an A Block tournament match.

-Will Ospreay vs. Lance Archer in an A Block tournament match.

-Evil vs. Bad Luck Fale in an A Block tournament match.

-Sanada vs. Zack Sabre Jr. in an A Block tournament match.

Powell’s POV: The top two matches and the Sanada vs. ZSJ matches look great on paper. It will be interesting to see the non-tournament matches involving the B Block wrestlers on this show, particularly what NJPW does with Jon Moxley on this event. AXS will be broadcasting this event live, and all of the NJPW G1 Climax Tournament matches will be broadcast on the New Japan World streaming service.
