Vince McMahon’s XFL is expected to announce the hiring of Bob Stoops as the head coach and general manager of the league’s franchise in Dallas, Texas. ProFootballTalk.com reported the news ahead of a press conference scheduled for Thursday at Globe Life Park in Texas. Stoops coached the Oklahoma Sooners to a 190-48 record before he announced his retirement on June 7, 2017. The 59 year-old coach led the Sooners to a National Championship in 2000.

Powell’s POV: It’s a big name hire for the XFL and the press conference will be held just two days before the rival AAF league holds its first game. For those looking for another pro wrestling connection, Stoops is friends with longtime Sooners’ backer Jim Ross.
