UFC President Dana White indicated that CM Punk’s career with the MMA promotion is over. “It probably should be a wrap,” White said during the UFC 225 press conference. “The guy is 39 years old. I love the guy. He’s the nicest guy in the world. We gave him two shots. He had a lot of heart tonight in this fight. I think he should call it a wrap.”

White was also highly critical of Punk’s opponent Mike Jackson during the press conference. White said Jackson “acted like a goofball” and referred to him as a “complete f—ing idiot” for not finishing the fight. White went so far as to say that he couldn’t wait for the fight to end and that he regretted putting it on the main card (due to Jackson’s antics). Punk was transported to the hospital following the fight, but White was unaware of that until the press conference started and thus he did not have any updates on his condition.

Powell’s POV: Punk lost the fight and walked away with more respect from White than the man who defeated him on Saturday night. I watched the post show on FS1 and fighters Kenny Florian and Michael Bisping were also complimentary of the heart that Punk showed by continuing to fight despite the punishment he took during his unanimous decision loss to Jackson.
