WWE has announced that they will hold four tournaments at the Axxess fan convention this weekend. The tournaments will be the WWE United Kingdom Championship Invitational, the NXT North American Invitational, the NXT Tag Team Invitational and the NXT Women’s Invitational. The winners of each tournament will earn a title shot against the current champion. The talent in the tournaments will include wrestlers from WWE, NXT, 205 Live, the UK Championship Tournament, the Mae Young Classic, and the Progress and Evolve promotions. Read more on the tournament and the first round matches at WWE.com.
Powell’s POV: It’s a cool concept and a great opportunity for some of the non-WWE talent, but at this point there is not any indication of these matches airing on WWE Network. The UK Championship, the North American Championships, and NXT Tag Title matches are scheduled for Sunday morning at Axxess. However, there is not an NXT Women’s Championship match listed for Sunday. It’s going to be asking a lot of the champions coming out of Takeover to wake up early and wrestle again the following morning. There are also various Progress and Evolve title matches advertised for the Axxess events. We are looking for reports from all of these matches. If you attend an Axxess session, you are encouraged to send a report to email@example.com.
