Austin Idol discussed the plane crash that took the life of Bobby Shane (Robert Schoenberger) on February 20, 1975 in Tampa, Florida. Idol, Gary Hart, and pilot Buddy Colt survived the accident. View the video below or at the NWA Youtube Page.

Powell’s POV: The four men were traveling from a show in Miami, Florida back to their home base in Tampa, Florida. It’s amazing that three of the four men actually survived. Bruce Mitchell of PWTorch.com has noted that Shane was so over as a heel that when his death was announced to fans at the next show they actually cheered. There’s a good Tampa Bay Online story written by Paul Guzzo a few years ago that serves as a good companion piece for the video. Check it out at TBO.com.
