WWE offers more details on Samoa Joe’s injury, Joe lands animated voice cast

-WWE reports that Samoa Joe suffered a right foot injury that will keep him out of the Mixed Match Challenge. Joe suffered the injury during Monday’s Raw match against Titus O’Neil. “During his match, [Samoa Joe] felt a pop at the bottom of his [right] foot,” WWE Physician Chris Amann told WWE.com. “We took a look and believe he has a plantar fascia rupture, which is a thick tissue rupture under the foot. We will get an MRI to confirm. Treatment includes a period of immobilization in a boot with crutches and platelet rich plasma injections.”

-In other Samoa Joe news, Joe announced that he has landed a role in the cast of the new Transformers animated series. Joe will voice the character of Predaking. The cast will also include Star Wars actor Mark Hamill and Sons of Anarchy actor Ron Pearlman.

Powell’s POV: If Joe suffered a plantar fascia rupture and requires surgery, the online timelines for surgery recovery is three months. That said, it doesn’t sound like Amann believes he will require surgery necessarily. Obviously, they will know more once he undergoes the MRI exam. Joe has yet to comment on the injury via social media, but he’s obviously and understandably excited by the animated voice-over gig.
