Impact Wrestling issued the following press release to announce that Alberto El Patron will have his father in his corner at Slammiversary.

Masked Mexican wrestling icon Dos Caras will make his IMPACT WRESTLING debut at Slammiverarsy on July 2nd in The Impact Zone at Universal Studios Florida.

Dos Caras (Spanish for, Two Faces) is the father of IMPACT superstar Alberto El Patron, the GFW Global Champion, who at Slammiversary will challenge reigning IMPACT World Champion Bobby Lashley in a title unification match.

Dos Caras will be in his son’s corner for the main event match.

Dos Caras made his wrestling debut in 1970 and is part of wrestling royalty in Mexico. He has two sons (Alberto El Patron and El Hijo de Dos Caras) who are wrestlers, and he is the brother of Mexican wrestling icon Mil Máscaras. Plus, two nephews also are wrestlers.

“It’s an honor to welcome Dos Caras to IMPACT WRESTLING for Slammiversary,” said Jeff Jarrett, who is IMPACT’s Chief Creative Officer. “I’m sure Dos Caras won’t be afraid to intervene on Alberto’s behalf, if need be, and he still carries a mighty punch.”

Dos Caras has been a World Champion on many occasions in multiple promotions, and he is a member of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame (Class of 1998).

Powell’s POV: I’m not sure how much this will mean to the majority of the Impact audience, but it’s a nice touch for lucha fans.
