WWE Live Event
Trenton, New Jersey at Sun National Bank Center
Report by Dot Net reader Nicholas Cannella

WWE came to Trenton on Halloween Night for a house show featuring the Smackdown brand. It was advertised over the past month with AJ Styles vs. Dean Ambrose for the WWE Title, and Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt. Now that Orton gave Kane an RKO to help Bray Wyatt defeat him last week on television, this was obviously changed to Orton vs Kane with out any notice until the match happened.

1. Dolph Ziggler defeated The Miz (w/Maryse) to retain the Intercontinental Championship. Dolph stole the show and picked up the win with a superkck in good opening contest. Miz stalled a lot before the match and Maryse was ejected mid match for trying to interfere.

2. Jack Swagger defeated Tyler Breeze. Swagger wins via submission with an Ankle Lock.

3. The Hype Bros and Apollo Crews defeated The Vaudevillains and Curt Hawkins. The Bros hit Aiden English with the Hype Ryder for the win. Solid six-man tag team action.

4. Baron Corbin defeated Kalisto. Corbin won with the End of Days finisher. Corbin played his usual role and it seems he’s being groomed to becoming a top heel on Smackdown and possibly the next IC Champion.

5. Randy Orton (w/Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper) defeated Kane in a Street Fight. Harper interfered but Kane took him out. Kane attempted a chokeslam on Wyatt, but Orton hit the RKO out of nowhere and pinned him. Good back and fourth Street Fight that took place in and outside the ring with The Wyatt Family interfering throughout the match. Kane was over as the face, and despite Orton playing the heel, he was still pretty over with crowd too. Tonight and the previous night’s show in Allentown, Pennsylvania were the first live events of Orton officially being a part of The Wyatt Family.

6. Becky Lynch and Naomi defeated Natalya, Carmella, and Alexa Bliss in a handicap match. Becky made Natty tap out to the Disarm-Her. Good work by all five woman.

7. Heath Slater and Rhyno defeated The Usos and American Alpha in a Triple Threat to retain the Smackdown Tag Titles. An cction packed tag match with Rhyno hitting The Gore on Jimmy for the win.

8. A.J Styles defeated Dean Ambrose to retain the WWE Championship. Styles attempted to leave the ring with his title but Dean prevented it. Styles took a top rope turnbuckle pad off and eventually shoved Ambrose into the exposed turnbuckle and pinned him with a roll up. Afterward, Styles grabbed the mic claiming “he is the face that runs the place and champ that runs the camp.” Finally, Ambrose hit him with Dirty Deeds to send the crowd home happy. Great performances by both men as Styles played his great heel role and Ambrose did what he does best as the fan favorite.

Overall, great show despite a very small crowd due to it being Halloween. It feel like an indy show with only part of the floor and some of the the upper levels filled.
