FOX renews John Cena’s “American Grit” reality show

johncena1FOX has renewed the “American Grit” competition that is hosted by WWE star John Cena. Deadline.com reports that the producers are currently casting for season two.

Powell’s POV: The show didn’t do great numbers for FOX. However, it also aired on Thursday nights opposite WWE Smackdown. If it stays put on Thursday, then perhaps WWE fans will be more likely to sample it now that Smackdown has moved to Tuesday nights. Of course, this news would also seem to suggest that Cena, who is also an executive producer of the show, will be taking another extended leave from WWE for filming.
