Cody Rhodes’ first advertised independent wrestling date is August 27 in Wappingers Falls, New York for Northeast Championship Wrestling. The annual Wrestling Under The Stars event will be headlined by Rhodes vs. Kurt Angle in what is billed as their first ever match against one another.
Powell’s POV: It’s worth noting that Cody is advertised as Cody Rhodes, as we told you he would be using that name outside WWE. It remains to be seen whether Rhodes will take bookings before this event. He seemed to indicate in a Twitter post over the weekend that he will be contractually free from WWE on August 19.
