sting1Sting spoke about his retirement announcement at the WWE Hall of Fame in a WWE Youtube interview. “The only thing I would like to share is that, man, it’s something that I battled with until all the way up to the last minute pretty much, as to whether or not I was going to retire,” Sting said. “It just makes sense right now. I mean, I don’t want to. Every wrestler, ‘One more match, one more match.’ Although I do believe wholeheartedly I could do it, I just think it’s time for me to put my boots in the middle of the ring.” Watch the full interview at the WWE Youtube Page.

Powell’s POV: It’s interesting that Sting said he was battling with the decision until the last minute given that there was a TMZ report back on March 17 stating that he would retire at the Hall of Fame. It’s worth noting that he also told the media on Friday that he was still interested in facing Undertaker. Given his neck injury and his age, I believe he made the right decision, and there’s no telling whether WWE would have cleared him even if he wanted to return.
