John Cena spoke with the media at the Daytona 500 on Saturday and FOX Sports ran more comments from him regarding a potential return to the ring in time for WrestleMania 32. “”It would be personally unfortunate for me to miss WrestleMania,” Cena said. “But if I can’t perform, it would be unfortunate for the people watching WrestleMania to see me suffer through something that isn’t worthy of the event.
“I take a very unselfish approach to my job and what I do because people spend their hard-earned money to enjoy what we do,” added Cena. “And our goal is to deliver the best show possible. I know there will be a WrestleMania 33 and 34 and 35,” said Cena. “And hopefully 100.” Read more at FOXsports.com
Powell’s POV: Cena is six weeks removed from surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff. He recently said that it was time to “gamble” for a couple weeks, but he did not specify. It was certainly interpreted as Cena pushing his rehab to get back in the ring rather than hinting that he intended to play a session at his local bingo parlor. If nothing else, we know he’s healthy enough to drive given that he drove the pace car at the Daytona 500 race today.
