Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Tuesday to discuss the dangers of concussions. Brie acknowledged that she plans to retire soon. “Feeling and seeing everything that he went through with his retirement, I just feel that it’s time for me to hang up the boots,” Brie said. “It’s going to be hard on me as well, but that day is definitely getting close.” ABC reporter Kayna Whitworth added that Brie told her she plans to retire sometime this summer.

The couple spoke about Bryan hiding concussions from Brie and then begging her not to tell company officials because they wouldn’t let him wrestle anymore. Paul “Triple H” Levesque also spoke about the company. “Athletes are like thoroughbreds, someone has to pull the reigns because they will run themselves into the ground if given that opportunity,” Levesque said. Powell’s POV: The Vito LoGrasso and Evan Singleton lawsuit over WWE failing to diagnose concussions was mentioned along with Chris Benoit being diagnosed posthumously with severe CTE. WWE issued a statement to ABC saying that the lawsuit has no merit and they will “vigorously contest it.” The story also noted that Bryan and Brie want to start a family, and that Bryan wants to spend his time making younger athletes more aware of head trauma issues.
