Ring of Honor announced that the Global Wars event will air on pay-per-view television on May 8 from Chicago Ridge, Illinois at the Frontier Fieldhouse. The show will feature ROH and New Japan Pro Wrestling talent. Read the official announcement at ROHwrestling.com.

Powell’s POV: ROH has been running their pay-per-view events on Friday nights lately, so this is a return to the traditional Sunday night slot. I have mixed feelings on going with yet another show loaded with NJPW talent. Obviously, it makes for the better event and I have been an advocate for putting Global Wars or War of the Worlds on regular pay-per-view rather than on iPPV, but I do worry that they are overexposing the novelty of using NJPW talent by using those wrestlers on the anniversary show this month and coming back in May with them again. Furthermore, I worry that it be a letdown when they can’t use NJPW talent on pay-per-view, which would be a shame given that ROH has such a talented roster. That said, both pay-per-view events have the potential to be outstanding and I’m looking forward to covering them both as they air live here on Dot Net.
