Ring of Honor play-by-play voice Ian Riccaboni announced that he will not be appearing at this weekend’s events in Florida. Riccaboni noted that his wife is pregnant with their second child and she is expected to give birth this weekend. “It comes with a surprising amount of guilt,” Riccaboni wrote of missing the shows. “I just signed a new deal. It is easier to record commentary live in building for TV, etc. But the ROH team didn’t blink. It means the world.”
Powell’s POV: I’ll bet evil genius Riccaboni planned nine months ago to impregnate his wife and then miss the first weekend of events shortly after signing his new deal with the company. All joking aside, there is nothing to feel guilty about when it comes to putting family first. Good for ROH officials for making the situation as easy as possible for Riccaboni, and best of luck to him and his wife with the new arrival. ROH is taping television on Saturday in Lakeland, Florida, and they will be live on HonorClub on Sunday night with a show from Coral Gables, Florida.
Now feels as good of time as ever to mention this:
My wife is pregnant. All signs point to a happy and health birth… this weekend.
One of the reasons I re-signed with ROH was because they walk the walk with “Family First”. I have off this weekend. https://t.co/KlK7BBDaXp

I am a workaholic. I work three jobs right now. I kept five (!) in 2016 in the run up to Zach’s birth.
Zach was two weeks early in 2016. I was across the state in Pittsburgh. I drove over 90 miles an hour across the turnpike to get home after checking all available flights.

I can’t do that again and I have to be home. I can’t stress how much this means to me.
I hope everyone goes and checks out ROH this weekend. I will miss seeing everyone, for sure, but I need to be here for Sarah, Zach, and the baby.

The real rib is going to be when the baby arrives Monday night, comfortably after when I was supposed to fly home from Miami.
