NXT play-by-play voice Mauro Ranallo announced that he will not call Saturday’s NXT Takeover: Chicago event. Ranallo will be calling a Showtime boxing event in Dallas on Saturday and will be replaced by Vic Joseph at the NXT event. Ranallo added that he will call the WWE UK Championship tournament that will be taped on Monday and Tuesday in London, England at Royal Albert Hall.
Powell’s POV: Ranallo has a busy schedule and I’m actually surprised there haven’t been previous conflicts. While Ranallo will definitely be missed on Saturday, it’s a great opportunity for 205 Live voice Vic Joseph, and I’m anxious to see how he performs. Joseph works with NXT color commentators Nigel McGuinness and Percy Watson on the 205 Live show so chemistry shouldn’t be an issue. I’m blessed to have more than one job. Unfortunately, dates may conflict. Off to Dallas for a @ShowtimeBoxing tripleheader . That means I won’t be in Chicago for #NXTTakeOver You’ll be in good hands with @VicJosephWWE @McGuinnessNigel & @WWEPercyWatson 👊🙏

I can’t wait to be back in London Monday & Tuesday to call the 2018 WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament and the NXT U.K. Championship events at the venerable Royal Albert Hall!

Meh. I’m not the biggest fan of Ranallo, so it’s cool. He tries to hard with the nicknames sometimes, I think. For instance- if I never hear the term “she-nom” again, it’d be just fantastic. Sometimes I just want him to call the action, and let Percy and Nigel add the extras.
