Tampa, Florida officials revealed that they are bidding to host WrestleMania and/or other signature WWE events. Tampa Bay Sports Commission executive director Rob Higgins made the announcement along with WWE wrestler Titus O’Neil on Thursday at the Sneaker Soiree event. “They’ll take some time to evaluate (the bid), and then I’m sure we’ll be in conversation with them to see where it takes us,” Higgins told TampaBay.com.
Powell’s POV: Florida has played host to three WrestleMania events with two in Orlando and one in Miami. Tampa has yet to host the event, but they are now bidding to hold WWE’s signature event at Raymond James Stadium either 2023, 2024, or 2025. The Royal Rumble is specifically mentioned in the article with the commission hoping to host in either 2022 or 2023. It’s not clear whether they hope to hold the Rumble event at the stadium or at the Amalie Arena, but Dot Net Member “William Van Landingham III” notes that Tampa’s average high temperature in late January is roughly 72 degrees, so holding it outdoors is certainly feasible. The listed capacity of the stadium is 65,890 for football and up to 75,000 for special events.
I hope they get the “2005” Mania
