Impact Wrestling paying extras to attend tapings as fans

Impact Wrestling is working with Smyth Casting to hire extras to attend their television tapings in Ottawa, Ontario this week. Smyth Casting issued a tweet offering extras $12.50 per hour for four hours of work. The tweet noted that the extras must be at least 16 years-old or have a parent or guardian with them at all times. It also mentioned that fans may be given signs to hold up and encourages potential extras to make their own signs.

Powell’s POV: This is not the first time that Impact has used extras. Sony Six took a similar approach with the Impact tapings in India. This is somewhat embarrassing for Impact in that it’s obvious they couldn’t sell enough tickets for their tapings, but it’s not really surprising given that the company is running five straight days in the same venue. That said, they could help their own cause by making details about the tapings available on their own website. At the time of this update, there’s nothing on their main page regarding their tapings this week.

We are looking for reports on the Impact Wrestling television tapings and the WWE European events this week. If you attend a show, you are encouraged to send a report or even basic results to dotnetjason@gmail.com

  1. Given the trend of wrestling fans either going into business for themselves or sitting on their hands, there’s no problem with ensuring your crowd responds how you wish.

As if Vince McMahon hasn’t been conditioning fans for years…
