New Japan Pro Wrestling “Super Jr. Tag League”
November 1, 2026, in Okayama, Japan, at Akaiwa Sanyo Fureai Park General Gymnasium
Streamed live on New Japan World

Walker Stewart provided commentary. This is another gymnasium, with nearly everyone seated on the floor. The lights were on, and the crowd was listed at 861 on the NJPW website.

* This year’s field is comprised of 12 teams, divided into TWO six-team Blocks. This is a round-robin tournament, so every team has at least five matches. Today, JUST the B Block is in tournament action for their final round-robin matches. On Saturday, “The Unbound Co.” Taiji Ishimori and Robbie X advanced to the finals. Who will join them today?

* I’m only watching the tournament matches today. Results and times for the four undercard matches come from njpw1972.com.

1. Mistico, Masatora Yasuda, and Shota Umino defeated Master Wato, Kuukai, and Yushin Hatazawa at 8:26. Yasuda beat fellow Young Lion Hatazawa.

2. Nick Wayne, Kushida, and Taisei Nakahara defeated Ryusuke Taguchi, Kazuma Sumi, and Tatsuya Matsumoto at 8:35. Nick hit the Wayne’s World (corner fadeaway stunner) to pin Matsumoto.

3. “House of Torture” Douki, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, and Yujiro Takahashi defeated “The Unbound Co.” Robbie X, Taiji Ishimori, and Gedo at 6:43. Douki applied the Darkness Stretch (the Douki chokey triangle choke), and Gedo submitted.

4. Aaron Wolf and Boltin Oleg and Toru Yano defeated Taichi and Yuya Uemura and Satoshi Kojima at 12:07. Oleg hit the Kamikaze (forward Finlay Roll) to pin Kojima.

5. “Unbound Co.” Titan and Daiki Nagai (0) vs. “House of Torture” Sho and Dick Togo (2) in a B Block tournament match. As per usual, Sho grabbed the mic and insulted the crowd, then the HoT attacked. The heels brought handcuffs into the ring, but Nagai grabbed them and connected Togo and Sho at their wrists! Titan and Nagai kicked the heels as they were seated on the canvas. The heels bowed, but hit stereo eye-pokes. Yujiro Takahashi was at ringside with the handcuff key to free them. They all fought to the floor. Togo battled Nagai on the floor. Sho dragged Titan back into the ring and choked him in the ropes.

Yujiro jumped in the ring and hit a low-blow falling headbutt to Titan’s groin, and Sho got a nearfall at 4:00. The heels wish-boned Titan’s legs and remained in control. Togo tugged at Titan’s mask. Titan finally hit a jumping side kick on Togo at 6:00, and they were both down. Nagai got the hot tag and traded punches with Sho. He hit a shoulder tackle that sent Sho flying, then a suplex at 7:30. Titan hit a frog splash on Sho for a nearfall. The HoT hit a team suplex on Nagai. Sho hit a Spike Piledriver on Nagai for a nearfall at 9:30.

Sho set up for the Shock Arrow piledriver, but Titan escaped and hit a DDT. He wanted to tag out, but Nagai was down on the floor. Togo faked that he had been hit by a low blow, so the ref checked on him. Nagai hit a low blow on Sho! Nagai and Titan hit stereo dives to the floor at 11:00. In the ring, Titan and Nagai hit some kicks. Titan hit a top-rope double stomp to Togo’s chest for the pin. (I figured they were winning, but I thought Nagai was going to get the pin!) Solid match. Both teams finished at 1-4.

“Unbound Co.” Titan and Daiki Nagai (2) defeated “House of Torture” Sho and Dick Togo (2) at 11:45.

6. “The Swirl” Blake Christian and Lee Johnson (6) vs. “United Empire” Jakob Austin Young and Francesco Akira (4) in a B Block tournament match. I presume the UE team loses and implodes, right? Lee and Akira opened with standing switches. Lee knocked him down with a shoulder tackle. Akira hit some deep armdrags. Lee hit a chop block at 2:30. Blake tagged in and twisted Francesco’s leg in the ropes, then applied a Figure Four. Akira got up and hit some weak chops on Johnson. Young tagged in for the first time at 5:00 and hit a missile dropkick on Lee.

Jakob hit a Facewash Kick and got a nearfall. He removed his own T-shirt and choked Lee with it. Lee finally hit a diving forearm strike, and they were both down. Akira and Blake entered at 8:00, and Francesco hit a standing moonsault for a nearfall. Akira hit a twisting neckbreaker for a nearfall. Lee set up for Brainrot, but Young made the save. Blake hit a moonsault to the floor on Young. Lee hit a release powerbomb on Akira, and Blake immediately hit a 450 Splash onto Akira for a believable nearfall at 10:00.

Akira hit a running Meteora on Johnson for a nearfall. Akira and Young argued! They hit a team powerbomb move. Young hit a Shining Wizard on Johnson for a nearfall at 11:30. Young got a rollup on Blake. Blake hit a somersault off the apron to the floor. The Swirl set up for Brainrot, but Young avoided it. Blake hit a springboard frog splash for a nearfall. They then hit Brainrot (top-rope double stomp-and-DVD combo) to pin Young! The Swirl finished at 4-1!

“The Swirl” Blake Christian and Lee Johnson (8) defeated “United Empire” Jakob Austin Young and Francesco Akira (4) at 13:02.

* Zane Jay helped a groggy Young to the back, with Akira walking with them. I guess any implosion will take place on Tuesday at the tournament finals.

7. “Ichiban Sweet Boys” Kosei Fujita and Robbie Eagles (6) vs. Yoh and Hyo (6) in a B Block tournament match. In my ‘final thoughts’ on Saturday, I predicted The Swirl would win, forcing the ISBoys to have to win here to advance. Yoh and Hyo crawled out of the back, connected by a chain. Walker noted that the Swirl’s win meant Yoh and Hyo were mathematically eliminated. Hyo and Fujita opened and traded standing switches. They traded forearm strikes, and Hyo hit a headscissors takedown. Fujita hit a dropkick at 2:30. Eagles entered; Hyo and Yoh ‘scared’ him for some comedy.

The ISB wish-boned Hyo’s legs and hit front-and-back kicks. Kosei threw Yoh into a corner and hit some chops. Robbie hit a basement dropkick on Yoh for a nearfall at 6:00. Yoh finally hit a flying forearm. Hyo got a hot tag at 8:00 and he hit a leg lariat on Eagles. Robbie hit a clothesline to the back of Hyo’s head. Yoh hit a standing neckbreaker, then a double-underhook suplex on Fujita for a nearfall at 10:30. Yoh hit a Poetry In Motion splash into the corner. All four fought and traded chops. We had stereo submission spots.

Eagles scooped up Sho and ran him back-first into the other two to break up the submission, and all four were down at 12:30. The ISB hit the Sweet Buster team faceplant for a nearfall. Robbie hit a DDT on Hyo, and Kosei hit a German Suplex at 14:00. Hyo hit a release German Suplex on Fujita, with Kosei rotating and landing on his stomach. Hyo and Kosei got up and traded forearm strikes, then open-hand slaps to the face. Hyo hit a kip-up DDT on Fujita at 16:00, and he was fired up. He hit a back suplex with a high bridge for a nearfall. The ISB hit the “Interceptor” (team DVD) to pin Hyo! The Ichiban Sweet Boys are in the finals! Good action, with the expected winner.

“Ichiban Sweet Boys” Kosei Fujita and Robbie Eagles (8) defeated Yoh and Hyo (6) at 17:14 to advance to the tournament finals.

* Almost immediately, Robbie X and Taiji Ishimori got in the ring and confronted the winners. Ishimori spoke. Fujita snatched the mic from Taiji and spoke. He threw the mic down, and they all stared at each other, with no punches thrown.

Final Thoughts: The predictable winners of each Block will square off in the finals. But just because it was a predictable outcome doesn’t make it the wrong outcome. These two teams have battled frequently in the past year, and it’s always been magic. Overall, I’m really happy we wound up with four teams that finished at 4-1 this year, and didn’t have any convoluted tie-breakers.

I was so happy the Swirl won their match here. All of their matches (including the preview tags) were so good here; they deserved the reward of a 4-1 finish. I’m mildly disappointed we didn’t get an English speaker joining Walker for the tournament matches. I would have loved to have heard from Nick Wayne.

After a day off, the finals will be Tuesday. Not only do we have the tournament finale, but we also have Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta vs. Shingo Takagi and Jeff Cobb, and Kenny Omega vs. Boltin Oleg vs. Yota Tsuji in a three-way.
