C*4 Wrestling (Capital City Championship Combat) “Trick or Treat”
October 16, 2026, in Ottawa, Ontario, at Preston Event Centre
Available via Independent.TV
This is always one of my favorite venues; it’s new, clean and well-lit, and they always draw maybe 500 eager fans. The commentary track is still too quiet — it was often hard to hear over the crowd noise. C*4 makes a few light edits, notably cutting the breaks between matches. Everyone on the show has been here before — no new faces. (Notably absent are Evil Uno and Puf).
NOTE: C*4 announced this week that they are losing use of this venue! The November show will be the last one. That’s awful news — this is one of the very best venues to watch indy wrestling.
1. Vaughn Vertigo vs. Shimbashi vs. KJ Swayde for the C*4 Underground Title. Swayde has only had a few matches here; he’s the person I know the least about in this lineup. This was a pre-show match and was supposed to just be Swayde vs. Shimbashi. Vaughn came out and turned this into a three-way… and he put his title on the line! The challengers took turns hitting chops on Vaughn. Shimbashi hit a flying elbow drop for a nearfall at 1:00.
Shimbashi hit a dive to the floor. However, he got pushed into the ring post and was down and out. In the ring, Vaughn hit a slingshot senton on Swayde, and he took control. He hit a leg lariat for a nearfall at 3:30. Shimbashi finally got back in and hit a running knee to the side of the head. He hit three consecutive German Suplexes on Swayde. KJ hit a second-rope crossbody block on Shimbashi at 5:30, then a shotgun dropkick.
Vaughn hit a shoulder-breaker over his knee on Swayde. Vaughn hit a Swanton Bomb to KJ’s back. Shimbashi hit a gutbuster over his knees on Vaughn, and suddenly all three were down. Swayde and Shimbashi got up and traded forearm strikes. Shimbashi nailed a jumping knee and a DDT. However, Vaughn threw Shimbashi to the floor, hit a Shining Wizard on Swayde, and stole the pin. Good action.
Vaughn Vertigo defeated Shimbashi and KJ Swayde to retain the C*4 Underground Title at 10:11.
2. Vanessa Kraven, Cecil Nyx, and Xander Orion vs. MJ Santana, Julezee, and Rullo. I skipped this one. The six-footer Kraven (she was in the first Mae Young Classic!) hit a Choke Bomb on the scrawny Julezee for the pin.
Vanessa Kraven, Cecil Nyx, and Xander Orion defeated MJ Santana, Julezee, and Rullo.
* There was a moment of silence for Jeff “Cannonball” Guerriero, who died a week earlier of ALS at the age of 39.
* Myung-Jae Lee came to the ring, and he called out Vaughn Vertigo. Vaughn came out and noted he just defended his belt on the pre-show, so he’s not defending it twice. However, if Lee wins the next match… “maybe” Vaughn will give Lee a title shot.
3. Myung-Jae Lee vs. Brent Banks (w/Vaughn Vertigo). Vaughn hopped on the apron as a distraction, allowing Banks to attack Lee and hit some chops. Lee hit some moves, so Banks rolled to the floor to regroup. He reached into the ring and pulled Lee to the floor, and they brawled at ringside. Lee went for a dive, but Banks cut him off with a forearm strike at 2:00. In the ring, Lee hit a hesitation dropkick in the corner for a nearfall. Banks hit a swinging sideslam for a nearfall. He hit a series of jab punches in the corner, then some chops.
Lee hit a tornado DDT at 5:00, and they were both down. Lee hit a top-rope flying Meteora, and this crowd was hot! Banks nailed a swinging Bulldog Powerslam onto the ring apron at 8:30, and Lee collapsed to the floor! Ouch! Brent got a nearfall in the ring, and he was stunned he didn’t win there. Lee fired up and hit some chops. He hit an enzuigiri, then a back-body drop into the turnbuckles at 11:00. He hit a double stomp to Brent’s back and got the pin! Fun match.
Myung-Jae Lee defeated Brent Banks at 11:19.
4. “Locked & Loaded” Mark Wheeler and Jessie V and “Violence is Forever” Kevin Ku and Dominic Garrini vs. “The Rogues” Elliot Tyler and Casey Ferreira and “Mano Po” Teo Daklia and Kuya Cole in a double elimination match. I have seen the Mano Po duo just once before. The Rogues come from the Pacific Northwest, so they traveled a ways to get here! Ku and Ferreira opened. Ku unloaded some loud chops. Casey hit a huracanrana at 2:00. Tyler tagged in, and the Rogues did some quick team offense on Ku.
Tyler and Garrini traded chops. Dakila entered at 4:00, but Locked & Loaded worked him over. Mano Po hit stereo superkicks on Wheeler. The muscular Jessie V entered at 5:30. Jessie picked up one of them and threw him over the ropes onto everyone on the floor. In the ring, Jessie threw Kuya into their corner, and his team worked him over. Jessie hip-tossed Kuya across the ring. Tyler finally got a hot tag at 9:00, and he battled Ku. Wheeler hit a dropkick on Elliot.
Wheeler and Jessie V hit some team moves and worked over Tyler. One of the Mano Po guys hit a Falcon Arrow on Ku, but Garrini made the save at 12:00. VIF and L&L were both dumped to the floor. Takila hit a dive onto them, then Kuya hit a dive. Meanwhile in the ring, Tyler hit a Finlay Roll on Ku. Ku rolled up Ferreira for a flash pin at 12:56! The Rogues are both eliminated, so it’s now four-on-two!
Ku immediately hit a brainbuster on Takila. However, Takila rolled up Ku for a pin at 13:47! It’s now 2-on-2! Wheeler jumped in and hit a superkick. Jessie V hit a faceplant on Takila. Kuya pushed Wheeler into Jessie. Wheeler slammed Kuya. Kuya hit a Pele Kick. Jessie V threw one opponent onto the other. Locked & Loaded hit a team powerbomb-and-Lungblower move for the pin.
“Locked & Loaded” Mark Wheeler and Jessie V (SURVIVORS) and “Violence is Forever” Kevin Ku and Dominic Garrini defeated “The Rogues” Elliot Tyler and Casey Ferreira and “Mano Po” Teo Daklia and Kuya Cole in a double elimination match at 16:16.
5. Katrina Creed vs. Alexia Nicole. The blue-haired, 4’11” Nicole has appeared in Maple Leaf Pro a few times. Creed has flaming red hair and is a bit devilish. A clean lockup, and Creed is taller, and she easily knocked Nicole down with a shoulder tackle. Nicole hit a dropkick into the corner, then three consecutive Meteoras in the corner and a snap suplex for a nearfall at 1:30. Creed hit a suplex for a nearfall, and she planted a foot in Nicole’s throat. Katrina hit a sliding forearm for a nearfall at 3:30.
Nicole hit a top-rope crossbody block for a nearfall, then some clotheslines and a Lungblower to the back for a nearfall. Nicole hit a chop block, then a Lungblower to the face for a nearfall at 6:30. She mounted Creed and repeatedly punched her, then she hit a piledriver for the decisive pin!
Alexia Nicole defeated Katrina Creed at 6:52.
6. “Northern Thunder” London Lightning and Storm Ryder vs. “Project 8100” Dexter Doom and Haddy in a tornado rules match for the C*4 Tag Team Titles. Project 8100 attacked from behind during the ring introductions, and we got the bell seconds later. The brothers ran Project 8100 together. Project 8100 mounted the kids and hit some punches. Northern Thunder hit some punches, so 8100 rolled to the floor at 1:30 to regroup. However, London hit a plancha on them, and Ryder dove onto them, too! All four brawled on the floor.
In the ring, P8100 worked over Ryder. London hopped in and hit a discus punch. Haddy hit an Exploder Suplex on London into the corner, and they got a nearfall on Ryder at 4:00. Haddy hit a senton on London. Ryder hit a double clothesline, and he peeled down the straps of his singlet. Ryder put Haddy in a half-crab, but Dexter kicked Ryder in the side of the head to break it up. Lightning put Haddy in a Sharpshooter, and Haddy tapped out! Good action but shockingly short.
“Northern Thunder” London Lightning and Storm Ryder defeated “Project 8100” Dexter Doom and Haddy in a tornado rules match to retain the C*4 Tag Team Titles at 6:26.
* Doom knocked the ref to the mat. Haddy mounted the ref and repeatedly punched him! Doom hit some punches, too! The commentators were livid. However, Doom kicked the ropes to crotch Haddy! He got a chain, wrapped it around his fist, and punched Haddy! He got on the mic and spoke, but the fans belittled him.
7. Kristara vs. Dreya Mitchell for the C*4 Women’s Title. I’m a big fan of both women and have said they both should be on Scott D’Amore’s short list for the next Maple Leaf Pro taping. Dreya hit a spear and got a quick nearfall! Dreya is taller and visibly stronger. They traded forearm strikes. Kristara hit a leg lariat for a nearfall. Dreya hit a fallaway slam at 2:00. She hit a snap suplex for a nearfall. Dreya missed a Helluva Kick in the corner, and it hurt her leg. Kristara hit some spin kicks to both of Dreya’s thighs.
Kristara hit a dive through the ropes to the floor at 5:00. Kristara hit a top-rope crossbody block, and she was fired up! She hit a tornado DDT for a nearfall. Dreya hit a Lungblower to the back for a nearfall, but Kristara reached the ropes at 6:30. They fought on the ropes in the corner. Vaughn Vertigo appeared and hopped on the apron to distract Kristara. However, Myung-Jae Lee grabbed Vaughn, and they brawled on the floor. Dreya hit a Michinoku Driver, but the guys ran through the ring, distracting her. (They didn’t touch anyone, so the bell wasn’t called.) Kristara got a flash rollup for the pin!
Kristara defeated Dreya Mitchell to retain the C*4 Women’s Title at 8:48.
8. Mathieu St. Jacques vs. Gabriel Fuerza vs. Marcus Mathers vs. Stu Grayson vs. Junior Benito vs. Macrae Martin. The “Fresh Air” teammates Junior and Macrae once again are opposite each other. Mathieu hit a double clothesline. Just seconds in, only Stu and Mathieu were standing, and they traded punches. Stu hit a huracanrana, and they hit stereo clotheslines. Fuerza and Benito got in and traded faster-paced reversals. Macrae and Mathers traded some offense; I just saw those two have a singles match a month or so ago.
Mathers hit a flip dive to the floor at 3:00. Mathieu teased he was going to try a dive, but Fresh Air cut him off. He hit a DDT on them. Benito, Martin and St. Jacques all dove through the ropes on the other three! In the ring, Mathieu and Stu brawled some more. Stu hit a Pele Kick, then a running knee for a nearfall at 5:00. Grayson flipped Mathers into the ring, and they traded some offense. Stu hit a Lionsault for a nearfall. Stu hit a back suplex on Benito for a nearfall at 7:00, but Fuerza made the save.
Macrae hit a fallaway slam. Fresh Air hit a team slam on Stu, then stereo kicks on Mathieu. Macrae nailed his Spider Kick on Mathieu at 8:30. Marcus hit a German Suplex on Macrae, then a DVD on Benito for a nearfall. Fuerza hit a headscissors takedown on Mathers. Fuerza went for a Lethal Injection, but Stu blocked it. Fuerza hit a mid-ring Spanish Fly on Stu for a nearfall at 11:00. Mathieu got in and hit a spinebuster on each of the five opponents! Stu got in, and he hit belly-to-belly suplexes on each opponent!
Stu hit a top-rope superplex on Mathieu. Stu powerbombed Mathieu onto a pile of guys. Fuerza hit a Lethal Injection on Mathers, then a running Shooting Star Press for a nearfall at 13:00, and suddenly everyone was down. Fresh Air teammates Macrae and Benito traded rollups. Benito hit an enzuigiri. They traded punches, and both collapsed. Junior hit a dive over the ring post onto several guys on the floor at 14:30. He got back in the ring and again traded forearm strikes with teammate Martin. Junior got a flash rollup and pinned Macrae! That was a blast.
Junior Benito defeated Mathieu St. Jacques, Gabriel Fuerza, Marcus Mathers, Stu Grayson, and Macrae Martin at 15:16.
* Macrae hugged Benito, and then he left Junior in the ring so he could soak in the cheers. Notably, everyone in that match is essentially a babyface, so the crowd was into all of them.
9. Sheldon Jean vs. James Stone for the C*4 Men’s Title. Stone nearly beat Sheldon last month in a multi-man match, so he’s earned the singles match here. Stone has been locked in a mid-card feud with Brent Banks seemingly for the whole past year, and I admittedly don’t see him in the top tier of wrestlers here. Standing switches to open. Stone knocked him down, and Sheldon regrouped on the floor at 2:00. In the ring, Stone hit a back suplex for a nearfall. They brawled to the floor. In the ring, Sheldon repeatedly kicked Stone in the gut in the corner and kept him grounded.
Stone fired up and hit some clotheslines at 8:00, then a powerslam, and they were both down. On the floor, Stone got a chair and struck Sheldon across the back with it. Sheldon hit a Mafia Kick for a nearfall at 11:00. Stone applied a sleeper on the mat. He hit a twisting neckbreaker for a nearfall. Stone hit a sit-out powerbomb for a nearfall at 13:30. He hit an Unprettier faceplant for a nearfall. Stone got a door from the back and placed it in the corner of the ring. Stone hit a DVD onto the door, but it didn’t break. He ran the length of the ring, tried a second DVD, but it still didn’t break!
Stone tried a spear at 16:00, but the table still didn’t break! (This felt like comedy; doesn’t that hurt Sheldon more?) Stone covered him for a nearfall. Stone went under the ring and got two more doors. Sheldon accidentally ran into the ring. Stone hit a DDT, and all three were down at 17:30. Stone crashed through a door; Sheldon got a cover for a nearfall. Sheldon flipped Stone through another door and got a nearfall at 19:30. Sheldon hit a swinging uranage for the pin. Solid match.
Sheldon Jean defeated James Stone to retain the C*4 Title at 20:28.
* Junior Benito emerged from the back and confronted Sheldon. They jawed, but Sheldon turned and left with no punches thrown.
Final Thoughts: A solid show. The six-way was a blast and easily my favorite of the night. All six guys are so talented, and it felt like any of them could have won. I liked Dreya-Kristara, even though it was shorter than I hoped. The main event was fine, but I just didn’t get into it — Stone has never been presented as a guy in the top tier here, so it was hard to buy him as a legit threat to win the C*4 Title.
It is worth reiterating what a great young core they have here in C*4, with London Lightning, Storm Ryder, Dreya Mitchell, Kristara, and Fresh Air leading the way.
