AEW Collision on-site report: The crowd’s reaction to Jon Moxley compared to the other Death Riders, Garrett Borden’s dark match, Arkady Aura gives away merch between matches

Dot Net Member Jeremy Moses (X.com/JeremyMoses85) sent the following report after attending Saturday’s AEW Collision in Highland Heights, Kentucky, at Truist Arena.

-Truist Arena looked mostly full. Did see quite a few empty seats in sections 108/109.

-Five minutes before bell time, AEW showed highlights from All In. Shouldn’t they have done All Out instead since it was more recent?

-Orange Cassidy hawked a pencil and notebook set in an ad for Blackwing. Yes, really.

-Kiran Grey faced Garrett Borden in the first dark match. Garrett still has a lot to learn, but the crowd was behind him. He won with a running splash in 10 minutes.

-The Premier Athletes came out for the next dark match with Billy Gunn and Brady Booker. Before the match, “Smart” Mark Sterling had a funny line: “I see no chicken, but you all look fried!” Booker and Gunn won the match.

-HUGE reaction for Jon Moxley. The live crowd loved him here in the Northern Kentucky suburbs. By comparison, the remaining Death Riders weren’t nearly as favored during the six-man tag match. They came out below my section.

-Of note, there were no “F— Don Callis” chants in either of the two matches the Callis Family was in.

-The crowd seemed to sit on their hands for the Myron Reed vs. Dante Martin match. It was no fault of those guys; they worked hard. The crowd just didn’t have a reason to cheer one way or the other.

-During a couple of commercial breaks, Arkady Aura gave away a Cincinnati Bengals lucha mask and an AEW Championship replica. They also had a “Fan of the Night”, a boy named Clayton, who Aura decided to have dueling chants for: “Let’s Go Clayton” and “Clayton Rocks.” That was nice.

-One other note: Arkady did make mention twice of it being a difficult week with Pac’s passing. That said, the only tribute video we were shown in the building was that of the Young Bucks.

-After the show, Mark Davis ran out along with (I think) Trent Beretta to try to beat down Mox. That was a bad idea in this town, because the Death Riders ran out as backup and cleared the ring of the Callis Family members. I couldn’t catch most of the post-show promo from Mox, but he put over Northern Kentucky.

-No return date announced, but it was a mostly hot crowd all night long.
