Wrestling Open RI “Episode 74”
Streamed on IndependentWrestling.TV
November 2, 2026, in Cranston, Rhode Island, at Rhodes On The Pawtuxet
The venue is an attractive two-story, white ballroom, and the lighting is really good. Last week, promoter Drew Cordeiro warned that if crowds don’t consistently grow, the contract for this building will end at the conclusion of 2026. The fans responded with a crowd of close to 200! Paul Crockett provided commentary.
* I was traveling Monday night, so I didn’t watch this live, and thus, I missed the spotlight match. Just five matches tonight!
1. Bobby Orlando vs. DJ Powers. DJ came out first and cut a heel promo and was loudly booed. A clean lockup. Bobby hit a bodyslam at 1:30, then a back-body drop. They fought to the floor and brawled. DJ accidentally chopped the ring post. Orlando hit a series of punches to the forehead as DJ was seated in the front row. DJ threw Bobby against the ropes and caught him with a forearm strike at 3:30! In the ring, DJ was in charge for several minutes. He charged but crashed into the middle turnbuckle at 5:30.
Orlando got up and hit some jab punches and a bulldog. He ripped off DJ’s half-shirt and hit a powerbomb for a nearfall. He hit a running neckbreaker and was fired up. DJ hit a Helluva Kick, then a DVD into the turnbuckles for a nearfall at 8:00. DJ hit a superkick, a superplex, and a neckbreaker over his knee, and they were both down at 10:00. He missed a split-legged moonsault! Orlando immediately hit his Athena-style flying stunner for the pin. Good action.
Bobby Orlando defeated DJ Powers at 11:13.
2. Anthony Vecchio vs. Erik ChaCha. A clean lockup, and I’ll reiterate that ChaCha is only perhaps 5’4″, so Vecchio easily backed him into a corner and stomped on him. He hit a backbreaker over his knee for a nearfall at 2:00. ChaCha got a rollup, but Vecchio popped up and hit a hard clothesline for a nearfall. Vecchio hit two more backbreakers over his knee and a sideslam for a nearfall at 4:00. Vecchio hit another backbreaker over his knee for a nearfall. ChaCha hit a second-rope crossbody block and a shotgun dropkick at 6:30, then a tornado DDT and some Yes Kicks, then buzzsaw kicks to the head for a nearfall. Vecchio hit a Michinoku Driver for the pin. Good action, but the winner was never in doubt.
Anthony Vecchio defeated Erik ChaCha at 7:41.
* Bobby Casale came to the ring and said he and Danny Miles will be getting their tag title rematch against The Verdict on Nov. 23. He started to talk about Anthony Greene, but he was cut off by Brett Ryan Gosselin and Oxx Adams. Loud boos for them! BRG cut a heel promo; Casale cut him off and challenged him to match … right now!
3. Bobby Casale vs. Brett Ryan Gosselin (w/Oxx Adams). Basic action early on, and Casale slammed him and applied a cross-armbreaker at 1:00. They briefly fought on the floor. In the ring, Bobby hit an Exploder Suplex. From the floor, Oxx tripped Casale, allowing BRG to hit a spear for a nearfall at 3:30. Brett took charge and worked over Bobby, as the crowd chanted, “The worst!” at him. Bobby hit a snap suplex into the turnbuckles and a Facewash kick. He hit a suplex. BRG hit a chop block. Casale hit an Air Raid Crash for the pin.
Bobby Casale defeated Brett Ryan Gosselin at 6:57.
* Oxx Adams jumped in the ring and applied a Claw on Bobby’s head, and BRG twisted Casale’s left leg.
4. Dustin Waller vs. Jermaine Marbury (w/Benny the Basketball). Marbury wore a half-green, half-white jersey that I don’t recognize. A clean lockup at the bell. Some basic reversals and a standoff. Marbury hit his ankle-breaking neckbreaker for a nearfall at 2:30. Waller threw himself to the mat and complained that Benny had tripped him. Waller stomped on Marbury and kept him grounded. He slammed Marbury and got a nearfall at 5:00, and slowed him down with a headlock on the mat. Marbury hit a Canadian Destroyer for a nearfall at 7:00. Waller hit a Lethal Injection and the Mamba Splash for the pin. Good match.
Dustin Waller defeated Jermaine Marbury at 8:13.
* Bear Bronson came to the ring, holding his Wrestling Open Title belt. He was not dressed to wrestle. He talked about the grueling match he had last week, but he won. Bryce Donovan came out of the back, holding his Wrestling Open Tag Title belt! He also was not dressed to wrestle. Donovan taunted Bear, saying he was breaking down from all the scars and all the matches he’d had recently.
Vinny Scalice tried to sneak in behind, but Bear saw him and punched him. However, Bryce hit a low-blow uppercut on Bronson. Bryce and Vinny stomped on Bronson repeatedly. Dustin Waller ran to the ring with a ref, and he is turning in his guaranteed title contract! But wait! Bobby Orlando ran in and attacked Waller and Donovan. Bear got on the mic and said, “Verdict, you want a war? You got it!” Bronson said he would give them four weeks. They’ll each assemble a team for a five-on-five elimination tag match! “We’ll see who rules Wrestling Open!” Crockett noted, “A Thanksgiving tradition comes to Wrestling Open!”
* They took a 10-minute intermission and aired an old match. (Was someone not at the building yet? That’s just bizarre. Well, I’m glad I wasn’t watching live, then!)
5. A six-woman Royal Rumble. Drawing No. 1 was Liviyah , and No. 2 was Paris Van Dale. Joining at No. 3 was Little Mean Kathleen at 2:00, and Crockett noted she just returned from her ACL injury. LMK hit a double DDT. Ruthie Jay drew No. 4 at 4:00, and she bodyslammed LMK. Shannon LeVangie entered as No. 5 at 6:00, and she hit an enzuigiri. She hit Helluva Kicks on everyone except Liviyah, as those two are friends here! Paris eliminated LMK at 7:15.
Nessa Ferrari drew the final slot at 8:00, and she hit a Meteora on Ruthie. Shannon hit a second-rope missile dropkick on Nessa. Shannon kicked Ruthie to the floor at 9:03. Shannon and Paris fought. Liviyah accidentally eliminated Shannon at 9:33! Shannon sat up on the floor, shocked that it had just happened. Paris tossed Nessa at 9:53, and we’re down to our final two! Liv and PVD briefly brawled on the apron. In the ring, Liviyah hit a TKO stunner, and they were both down at 11:00. They again fought onto the ring apron and traded open-hand chops. Liviyah hit a piledriver along her back, and Paris rolled to the floor.
Liviyah won a six-woman Rumble at 13:59.
Final Thoughts: The Bronson-Donovan segment was a standout. Donovan had a strong title run here, and he would be a logical new challenger for Bear. And yes, as a kid who grew up with the Survivor Series elimination match, I love that Wrestling Open is having one near Thanksgiving.
The matches were all fine, but that late intermission was really bizarre. As I noted, I can only guess that one of the women arrived late to the building and was still getting ready. A short show, coming in at just 1 hour and 28 minutes (after subtracting the intermission).
