All Elite Wrestling has announced Chris Jericho vs. Cody for the AEW Championship as the main event of the Full Gear pay-per-view. The event will be held on November 9 in Baltimore, Maryland at Royal Farms Arena.

Powell’s POV: This helps explain the logic behind Cody beating Shawn Spears at the All Out pay-per-view. AEW also released “The Road to AEW on TNT” earlier this week. Check it out below or via the AEW Youtube Page.

I’m game for this. Cody is perhaps one of the best in the world right now at telling a story leading up to and through a match. It’s like art. This should be great. The Jericho/Page match just seemed to be lacking something.

  2. What I found ironic is that Cody has referenced HHH several in the previous PPV’s and is now starting to book himself like HHH circa 2004. Good to know that Spears is a joke and Cody buried him so fast we’ll have to start calling Shawn Spears Booker T.

There was absolutely 0 reason for Cody to win that match, let alone CLEAN but hey I guess Cody is finding out that being the man in charge has it’s perks.

    • The difference is Cody is a legit talent while HHH was the guy who was in the ring with the talent.

    • I have to disagree. Cody HAS to be the challenger because Jericho can’t drop the title in his first defense, and Cody is the guy with enough cred to main event a PPV, who also isn’t likely to want/get the belt. If you go back to Page you risk defining him down. You can’t have Mox or Omega lose here. You can’t book Dustin here because no one will consider him to have a shot. Where else do you go?

That’s why Cody had to win. It’ll be fairly easy to rebuild Spears’ value. You just put him over somebody like Dustin.
